HOFF — Restaurant in Tokyo

(Vegan review) This restaurant is good I might haven’t given it a better review if it wasn’t for the odd thing that happened (at end). First off the food is good, seasoned well if not a little too salty. They have a “vegan menu” aka they just modify whatever they have. On Uber eats they have vegan burgers, but not at dinner in the shop. They made me a vegan pasta. My dinner mate had the burger, she said it was good. The odd thing started with her, there is an older man there with stylized grey hair that was too interested in her. At first he said her jacket was cool, which was fine. When he brought her food he made another compliment.. which was an odd time but also ok. Then when we were about to leave he came over and followed us outside, I didn’t think much of it because sometimes Japanese staff will do that, but then he kind of trapped us and kept saying out how cute she was. It was clear we were on a date and yet he put his own desire first. I don’t know if I will be back based on that interaction. She felt like he was creepy and too much in here face.

Apparently he has a thing for gaijin girls, watch out ladies. Seems like it could not be the safest place...

Absolutely delicious Japanese style western food in a New York cafe-diner setting, with a records decorated on the wall and a great selection of jazz playing. My sister and I came by on a weekday afternoon, so it wasn't busy at all, but we were surprised by how delicious the food was. They have an English menu available, and the server and owner were warm and accommodating. I ordered a grilled lemon chicken with rice, and my sister ordered chicken with waffles; they were better than a lot of the food I've had here at home. I’m from NYC and to be able to visit this lovely spot while on a long vacation in Japan was such a joy. The vibes are immaculate, with Nat King Cole playing and a perfect wagyu cheeseburger on the menu. The owner was so warm and welcoming and brought us some whiskey sodas on the house and some slices of the most perfect pear I’ve ever had. If you’re American and are missing a bit of home while in Japan this really hits the spot with an elevated menu and fantastic ambiance. Thank you so much for a great time!
