NTT InterCommunication Center [ICC] — Attraction in Tokyo

Nice fun little museum. Good mix of temporary and permanent exhibits. The tech side was interactive and fun. They sell an annual pass for 1500 JPY -- absolutely worth it. I'm excited to come back and try the anechoic chamber. You need a reservation in advance for the chamber, but it's free if you have the annual pass.

It's very very difficult to get a reservation for the chamber. They open for sales one week before the date at 11am JST and are sold out within seconds. It's possible if you're fast.

Unfortunately, the chamber itself was very disappointing. You have to choose between several sound tracks to play while you're there, which defeats the point of the chamber itself. You cannot experience silence. You cannot hear your heart beat. It's not an escape from the world. Instead, it's constant noise...quite the opposite of what I think most people are interested in. It's not that much different than sitting in a quiet room with noise cancelling headphones.

We have noise everyday in our lives. Why go into a chamber to hear more noise? They should offer the opportunity for us to choose silence.

Enjoyed the Picasso 8K digital replica exhibition of Guernica. It’s original is also huge, black and white, very moving and detailed. No English but various QR codes, very friendly, helpful staff. Maybe a bit hard to find, it’s in Tokyo Opera City...

La experiencia inmersiva está bien diseñada. Antes de entrar a ella, hay una exposición con la que se puede interactuar. Algunas de las piezas eran trabajos de estudiantes de grados superiores, hasta cierto punto cumplen el cometido de entretener. La exposición a la que me tocó entrar se llama “Observando con los oídos”, sin entrar a mucho detalle, todas las salas (7) estaban limitadas de los otros sentidos con el objetivo de inmersión. Personalmente solo hasta la tercera sala empecé a experimentar la inmersión plenamente, para mí valió la pena. Sin embargo, el cambio de poder experimentar en la exposición de afuera sin ninguna restricción en los sentidos causa una disonancia hacia la experiencia por venir, que es más bien de relajación y...
