Ikina Sushi Dokoro Abe Hiroo Bekkan — Restaurant in Tokyo

Got there with high expectations given the reviews and a positive recommendation from a Japanese acquaintance.

Service: overall very bad, did not let me seat in front of the counter because of not being Japanese. Apparently the empty seats where “disabled”. Yet, I had to pay a “service fee”. Sounds counter intuitive.

Food: largely below expectations. The sea urchin smelled and induced me to think it was not fresh. The Tuna sashimi was good, but the rest of the sushi set menu (the only suggested choice from the chef as omakase) looked and tasted not as fresh as many other sushi place I have been in Tokyo.

In other words, I felt discriminated with B-level sushi and service because not being Japanese. I strongly recommend NOT to go in this restaurant unless you want to over pay...

Excellent sushi, tastes good, nice ambience. Service is okay to good. However, the price has gotten up like crazy. It was 7,500 yen per person not that long ago like 6 months ago, with custom order and one or two glasses of beer. Tonight, the bill came down to 9,000 yen! I literally ate and drank as much as last time! Maybe it’s because the price of ingredients has gone up, but 20% increase in the 6 months doesn’t...
