Visited: July 15th 2025 Order: Hand drip coffee (650円) "Honduras no pila" (Yone-sans recommendation) "Tanzabia Itumpi anaerobic natural" (recommendation for something more special)
Food: freshly ground beans, prepared carefully by hand using dripper, filter and scale Honduras no Pila is very balanced, round flavors not too much acidity but not boring either, a very delicious roast (menu says "orange, cherry, brown sugar, butter cream") Tanzania Itumpi was a lot more rough (in a good way), very distinct flavors and more of a "taste experience" roast, than an everyday one (menu says "honey, apricot, orange, spicy, whiskey") temperature was perfect upon drinking
Service: very nice employee Yone-san who is very passionate about coffee owner is there most of the time, but wasn't while I visited since he was busy at the roasting plant store is more of a take-away place but it is possible to stand inside (very narrow and no chairs) also sells beans, buying beans gets you a drink for 500円 for free (e.g. Americano, Espresso)
Verdict: Amazing. I had marked this beforehand but walked past it since it was raining quite heavily and I wanted a place to sit first, but went there on my return from Gōtoku-ji, and man was it worth it. I asked for Yone-sans recommendation and was not disappointed: of the two I tried, I liked his favorite, Honduras no pila, more. This place is really serious about coffee and you notice it by the quality, the equipment and the employees. Too bad I have to return home eventually, otherwise this could easily be my new coffee spot. Thanks again Yone-san for the pleasant chat! Might come here again to buy some beans before I leave.
Rating system: 0⭐️terrible, nobody should eat this 1⭐️ disappointing but edible 2⭐️ fine, nothing special, works if there are no other options 3⭐️quite tasty, might visit again 4⭐️ delicious, visit was worth it 5⭐️ amazing, will/would eat...
Read moreVery nice third wave style coffee shop with a great selection of coffee beans and high quality single origin coffee.
Beans: Mainly specializing in medium-light roast beans, they have a rotating selection that the owner seems to pick depending on the season. He mentioned that during the summer months he tries to select beans that go well in iced arrangements, while he’ll pick ones with more complex flavors that go better for hot coffee during the winter months. I’ve bought coffee beans on three different occasions from this store, and each time the beans they gave me had a roast date within a week, so they were super fresh and had a very nice bloom when I brewed it at home. The store attendant and the owner are both very knowledgeable about the beans and can make recommendations. The flavor notes are listed out in English as well.
Coffee: Very reasonable prices for single origin hand drip. Maybe one of the best deals in Tokyo for the quality you get?? The owner does a hand drip using what looked like a single serving metal kalita wave dripper. Seemed like a standard hand drip with one pour for bloom plus 2-3 pours for extraction. The Ethiopia Bekele I ordered came out super clean with a smooth mouthfeel. It wasn’t as fragrant as I expected but it had surprisingly mellow acidity for a light roast, pleasant stonefruit notes, and a clean aftertaste which I appreciated a lot. Just a solid cup of coffee.
Forgot to check if they speak English, but they are nice and willing...
Read moreComing from a strong ‘flat white’ culture in NZ, This is the best coffee we had in Tokyo. It compares easily to a great Supreme or Allpress brew you get at a solid cafe in Wellington or Auckland. We ordered caffe latte and it was strong, so smooth and creamy. Their Tanzanian beans are something special. We enjoyed our first coffee so much (on way to Gotokuji Temple), we travelled by two trains the following day - still as good.
