It is said that the cat brings good fortune and is later on referred to as Maneki-Neko. And thus why Gotokuji is known for the temple filled with cat figurines that have been donated by worshippers.
❤️: This cute little shop offers a range of homemade 🐱 Maneki-Neko inspired desserts and pastries. Visited: July 14th 2025 Order: Cat Cake with caramel filling and hot coffee set (800円)
Food: cake was warm but a little chewy, filling was creamy and tasty cake - filling ratio could be improved coffee was quite mild but not bad
Service: small store that also sells souvenirs some tables in the back and two benches in front of store employees were friendly, service was fast
Verdict: It's a tourist spot aimed at people visiting Gōtoku-ji. For what it is, it is actually quite nice. The cat shaped cakes are not too bad and are perfect for a pic for Instragram during your Gōtoku-ji tour. Wouldn't have come here if it hadn't started raining and was pleasantly surprised.

Read moreI stopped here in the afternoon after visiting Gotokuji temple on a hot day after seeing a sign for well-priced shaved ice. I ordered a strawberry and milk shaved ice for dine-in. The owner was super friendly and welcoming, telling me how long the shaved ice would take (about 7 minutes.) The shaved ice itself was delicious, and the extra sauce was the perfect amount for the shaved ice given. The other desserts offered were very cute, and everything seemed reasonably priced. The interior was simple but cute as well. Definitely a spot I recommend when visiting the...
