Jūban — Restaurant in Tokyo

This is, in my opinion, the best ramen shop in Tokyo. I have been to this small joint for the past 20 years or so, and they never disappoint. The gyoza ( 450 yen - really !?) is heavenly as well as tanmen ( 750 !?) The price is so reasonable for the quality of food that it’s too good to be true ( but it’s true !). The lady ( a proprietor’s wife?) never fails to recognize me although I go there once a year only ) - asking me about my mum etc. The place has a very authentic atmosphere from Showa era. This is a place to queue up, order promptly, wait with anticipation, eat with delight, pay cash and leave sort of place. No fuss. Just fabulous food. Go...

創業1956年(65年) 東中野駅から徒歩3分東中野ギンザ通り。 その中で一際昭和を感じる「十番」

こちらのお店は過去に各メディアに登場していて 更に相撲界の若貴兄弟も、東中野にある明大附属へ通っていた学生時代にこちらのお店の常連だったそうです。 そんな私も明大付属相撲部出身元力士の方にこちらのお店を教えてもらいました。

席はカウンターとテーブルで全22席。清潔感があります。

注文したのは

「焼餃子 400円」(6ヶ) 見て驚き！なかなかのボリュームの焼き餃子です。 皮はかなり厚めでモチモチしています。 カリッモチッジュワーな食感が美味しい！ 餡は野菜がたっぷり入り味もバランスが良いです。酢胡椒が流行っていますがここは酢醤油＋辣油でしょう。 これは熱々のライスが欲しくなります。ビールも！

The Ramen was very good, although it's a bit spicy and salty. The fried rice is also good but if you're a big eater I suggest getting two. The lady is very nice but she only speaks Japanese. I went here twice and would definitely go...
