Kirin Coffee — Restaurant in Tokyo

I was staying in Ota with 2 friends and we were interested in trying Cafe Kirin based on positive reviews online and its proximity to our hotel. We were happy to see that signs outside were in English, however, when we came in an employee told us via translation app that we needed a reservation. There was no option to make a reservation. We felt stared at (almost laughed at) and walked out. Not sure how often this happens but keep this in mind if you want to visit. I had a very incredible visit here this morning. I ordered the fluffy egg sandwich with cheese, and a coffee with milk and honey. The food was served with a very tasty side salad and the sandwich was so delicious. The coffee was wonderful too and so warming on a very cold morning. Overrated, overhyped, and overpriced. The place purports to be a connoisseurs place with meticulous and prominent ceremonial roasting of their own coffee. However, from a discriminate perspective, the coffee quality is only that of better drip coffee. There are also no espresso alternatives. The atmosphere is good and cosy, the staff friendly and accommodating. Sweets also of the pretentious type but not remarkable. Grown up hipsters will like it here. Good but not recommended...
