MAISON KAYSER Isetan Tachikawa Store — Restaurant in Tokyo

Came here for on a weekend afternoon. There was about ten people waiting so I wrote my name down on the list, and after about 15minutes we were seated. We ordered a caramel éclair and two coffees. The eclair was creamy and not oily at all. The coffee was pretty good too, better than most cafes, though the cup was a bit small.

We were feeling a little hungry so I went to the bakery section of the cafe and got two pastries. While checking out I was scolded in a demeaning manner by a chubby male employee who told me I wasn’t allowed to bring the pastries into the cafe section. First of all, his attitude was completely unacceptable. He talked to me as if I were a child. Secondly, in all my years of world travel, I have never seen or heard of a cafe that doesn’t let you eat their own products inside the store. Ridiculous!

Anyway, I told him that I wanted the pastries to go, and then promptly walked over to my table without issue. No other employees bothered us about this supposed “rule” for the remainder...

Come in the morning on a weekday and you have the whole restaurant to yourself 🤭✨

Excellent atmosphere and food.

I ordered the side salad and smoke salmon with ciabatta. They warm up the bread so it was nice and soft. You can select your bread if you order a sandwich.

It was such a lovely setting and calming interior. We had to wait for 20 minutes or so but it was worth it. The coffee was fantastic as well. The French toast was delicious too. I bought some bread while waiting for the table but I wasn't impressed with...
