Men'ya Yoshiki — Restaurant in Tokyo

I tried to eat there, but the owner is very unwelcoming to me who is a foreigner and cant speak japanese. I tried to use google translate but he doesnt even try to speak toward my phone, so i can only second guess of what he said, and figure out what he said, probably means 20 mins wait. I finally said “daijoubu” but he’s just ignoring me. The customer look pretty intimidated too by the owner attitude. the unwelcome attitude made me back out and eat in other place. Not an ideal place to eat if you dont understand japanese or first timer since i checked other review by japanese that are bothered by the owner attitude.

To be fair, its not as bad as the review from a year ago, like he’s not making fun of me or cussing anything, but still pretty intimidating and more being ignorant to me when i try to speak in japanese. I guess at least he learnt a thing or two from...

Duck ramen shops are honestly either a hit or miss. However, Yoshiki was definitely a big hit. It's currently my favorite duck ramen in Tokyo. The broth is so beautiful that you don't taste any bitter aftertaste from the duck. That alone showcases their careful preparation to eliminate the weakness of a duck-based broth. I arrived a little before 18:30 on a Saturday to find a line with six people waiting. The shop seats six and the seating is in waves so bad timing. I ended up getting my bowl at 19:20.

The process is get in line and the staff comes out to tell you when to come inside and buy a ticket. Then you hand the ticket to her then get back in line outside.

I got the Special Shoyu Ramen and an egg and tororo rice (and beer). Both were excellent. I really liked the noodles and the duck broth. Very good bowl although I wish I had showed...
