Let’s start with what everyone hopes for when they go out at a top-notch restaurant… The food was excellent!
It was comparable to top Michelin Guide restaurants for food although with Kappo, to our understanding, you will never find white table cloth/black tie service. Instead, you will have an intimate interaction with the chef while a sophisticated multi-course meal is prepared for you on the other side of the counter.
Naito-san is an excellent chef, makes many of his own core ingredients (e.g. miso), and he’s very personable. For visitors with limited Japanese language he spoke enough English to effectively communicate with us throughout the meal. His passion for the food and desire to share with customers, both the food and conversation, adds a great deal to the experience.
The restaurant offers an intimate space with an eclectic collection of dinnerware and drinkware. It was fun to watch both the elegant plating and to see what dinnerware the next item would be served on.

We took our Mom to this place, Mr Naito-San and his team left us with a very memorable night of delicious food and experience. Highly recommended! They use local and seasonal ingredients, some I have never tasted before. As a foreigner I even dared to recommend this to my local Japanese friends. This is how confident I am :-).
