We miss the times when we used to be able to walk up and get a table without reservation. Now that the word is getting out about how good the pizza and pasta dishes are, reservations are pretty much required (we had recently been turned away 3 times mid-afternoon on weekends). The pizzas are great, nice dough texture, fantastic sauce, great ingredients for toppings and a really nice and spicy green chili salsa on the side. Our kids love the margherita pizza which we get just about everytime. The arrabiata pizza is cheeseless (good for me), but had a really tasty tomatoes and slightly spicy sauce complemented with delicious lamb sausage crumb. The octopus special starter was raw but slightly chewy probably from the acidity of the crushed tomato; the dill was a nice touch. The fungi pasta had a salted and torched (crispy) maitake and at least one other type of mushroom it seemed, along with some beef in a red wine sauce (kind of like a beef bourguignon). The sauce flavor was a bit complex for our kids and the overall dish was on the saltier side, but the adults enjoyed it (even one who is not a fan of mushrooms), and the conch shell pasta was neat! Finally, a pudding with brunt sugar and chocolate gelato was enjoyed by the kids. One of them thought the burnt sugar was too bitter for them, but the other enjoyed it completely. Of note, good music transitioned to a jazzy rendition of happy birthday seamlessly when a table was celebrating with claps from the full kitchen and restaurant staff. Also the wait staff were very attentive for drink refills (or 2nd orders) and queued the kitchen for each course based on how the tables were...

Started off very nice, we were seated outside but once it started raining they very kindly brought us inside once a table was available.
However after that we were basically forgotten about for 20 minutes. A menu wasn’t brought over. Once it was, we asked for drinks. They told us they’d bring a selection of wines to choose from. Again another long wait. And instead of choosing a wine a random glass was brought over.
They highly recommended their bomba bread. It’s….ok. Essentially an inflated single pita bread at an inflated price.
Yes this is ebisu so things are priced accordingly. But the level of service didn’t match the cost and the food was pretty middle of the road for one of these “fancy” style bistros.
A place to be ‘seen’ at rather than enjoy good service and food. If you’re serious about food, there are plenty of better options around for pizza and pasta at a similar price point at which I’ve had a...
Read moreExcellent casual Italian restaurant in Ebisu, six minutes’ walk from Ebisu Station. They are focused on pasta and pizza, and their selection changes relatively often. Also, their seasonal vegetable salad was excellent, both in terms of quality and variety vegetables, as well as having a good volume. The pizza I had was very well made and I would say it is Neapolitan style with their own flourishes. I will try the pasta next time. I didn’t try any alcohol but they seem to have an extensive wine list and several by the glass. Dessert was a simple affair with one option of milk gelato with seasonal fresh fruit. Staff were very attentive and...
