traveling from the US, we visited Ramen Nagi when we inevitably woke up at 7am our first morning in town. we walked up the stairs and were immediately welcomed and showed how to order via the (non computerized) kiosk. it is cash only! make sure to put in all of your money first before making your selections, as it is not like america where you add everything then get a total cost. once you make your selection, if you’ve entered exact change your ticket slip will automatically print our. If you need change, simply select the distribute change button and then you will receive your change and your ticket slip. hand those ticket slips to the person working and they will ask for your spice level before you find a seat. (small seating area, 10-12 people tops) looking at reviews, I was nervous at first as I’m admittedly not the best eater especially when it comes to fish. WOW, was I happy to go against my gut. I did not find the broth to be too fishy or too salty like others have mentioned, I found everything about the bowl to be out of this world. I ordered the regular bowl (not spicy) and my husband got the special bowl (spicy). we were both extremely pleased and full, and we did not have to eat again until close to dinner time even after walking 15,000+ steps around Shibuya all day. I would highly recommend Ramen Nagi to friends, family, and anyone else looking for authentic Japanese ramen.

We reached the restaurant by 11:30am on Thursday and needed to queue in a very narrow alley for 25 minutes. When it was our turn, the server called us to go to the restaurant located on the second floor. The stairs were very narrow and steep. We were requested to make our order through a machine located on the narrow stairs. Only could use cash and no change for balance. The seating area was so narrow. We hardly can move. Only complimentary iced water was provided. Surprisingly, although the restaurant was so narrow, it has a toilet in here. We could watch the chef when he prepared for the noodle. Live show. But the chef was too shy to appear in my photo or video. Special niboshi ramen was super delicious. The broth was flavourful and addictive. We liked the wide noodle and the anchovies. The noodkevwas silky smooth and fine. The BBQ pork was too salty. Other ingredients were ok. We finished off until the last drop of soup and didn't feel thirsty afterwards. 1900 yen was value for money. 5 stars We also ordered the wide noodle with dipping sauce at 1800 yen. The wide noodle was so fine, smooth, and bouncy. It was cold, but when dipped into the warm soup, the kind of feeling was difficult to describe. Adding the black pepper to the dipping sauce would elevate the taste to the perfect level of satisfaction. 5 stars

Cash only. Lineup starts in the alleyway adjacent. There are umbrellas in the alleyway too which I thought was very considerate. We probably waited 20mins for about 10 ppl ahead of us. The menu posted on the alleyway is not up to date; I intended to get the Special ramen 1200 but did not see it on the ordering machine. When you get to the front of the line, don’t go up the stairs until they yell. Once you get up, you place your order on the machine. I only remember seeing the golden ramen for 1600, and a wide dip noodle ramen for 1500 (which was not on the menu posted in the alleyway) I was trying to rush so don’t recall the other options. There wasn’t many though. this wide dip noodle does not come with an egg so you must add it on the machine if you want it. If you need change, the worker will give it to you. Limited seating. I didn’t find the broth too salty as other people have mentioned. The wide dip noodle comes in 2 dishes. The wide noodles are immersed in a cold broth solution and you dip it into the second bowl of broth (there is meat under) I really enjoyed it. Better than the golden ramen in my opinion. I enjoyed the authentic Japanese ramen experience and would recommend to anyone visiting in the area.

Have you ever tried sardine based ramen? Do it! The ramen is phenomenal. Huge dish, the noodles are fantastic, and just the right texture and consistency but the broth is just... I was speechless. If you don't like fishy flavor, this might be a bit hard to swallow, but if you do - You are in for a real treat. I'm a foodie and our main goal during our two week trip in Japan is enjoy as much of the Japanese cuisine as possible. It is after all the city with the highest number of Michelin star restaurants in the world. I wrote a review about the first Michelin star ramen restaurant we have visited in Tokyo, but I have to say this place, was the only place on our trip that we've returned for seconds. The place is a hidden gem in the golden gai area, and we've stumbled upon in by mistake. It was pretty late, we were tired and hungry, and this was the only place among many different bars. The line was relatively short (which is an experience by itself as you are basically standing in a small gap between two buildings), and we decided to go for it. The best spontaneous decision we had. Oh, and be ready for few very steep steps. Nothing to fear, but another interesting experience at this wonderful place.

Unique ramen restaurant that specializes in using pork and anchovy as their broth base. I actually came here last December when Japan barely opened up their borders to international visitors so waiting in line wasn't that bad, maybe 15-20 minutes for two people. When you do come, just know that you'll have to wait in the small alleyway that runs between the restaurant and the building next to it. There's no standing in front of the restaurant nor is there a paper sign up list for you to put your name down, at least the wasn't a year ago; yes I'm writing this review a year late. When it's your turn to head upstairs, the server will direct you to the ordering machine so have your money ready and be prepared to know what you want. There isn't much space to maneuver once you're upstairs so they'll want to seated as fast as possible. Once you're all set, your food will come out nice and quick. Be prepared for a bowl of decadence and rich aroma because I ended up slurping up every last drop off broth as I could; it was also a cold night that day once I got off the plane and it was my first meal. Overall, it was worth every Yen and I would come back for more.
