Japanese only spoken but they have English or Korean hand-held audio guides so sweet-as bro - no photos most of the tour until the end when you can have up to 3 beers - don't worry - they offer you first a regular Premium Malt's - then a Master's Dream (too bitter for my female partner) - then their new product blue can Premium Malt's 'with a fruity taste' - my partner didn't drink much so 6 beers later I'm waiting for the shuttle bus back to Bubaigawara Station - drunk and happy. Check the times on the Suntory tour access web page.
Oh - the trick to the amazing smooth head on the beer they serve you - a Suntory engineer designed tap with two holes - the big one for the main beer - they pull back - then for the head they push forward - which forces the beer through a 2mm hole - result - a creamy head like you'd hope for with a Guinness - so yeah try that.
Oh - booking only in Japanese? Ask a friendly Japanese to do it for you.
And - if you're like us and came via Suntory shuttle bus from Bubaigawara station - on the way back check out the suburban shopping center opposite the station where they drop you off - DAISO upstairs - most everything for 100 yen - then eat at the adjacent Saizeria - tasty pasta for a bargain price - get the squid ink black spaghetti - and their number one - chicken wings! OMG...
Read moreFree tour and beer tasting, enough said. Jokes aside, the full experience is a tour inside the factory and the process in how the malts are produced. They take a longer time to boil, compared to how American beer is produced, leaving a more smooth and fine taste that I enjoyed! The tour guide is in Japanese only, but you can use an app that gives the tour in English, plus there's another staff member that follows behind the group who helped us a lot in directions and answering questions. NOTE; Refrain from taking photos of the staff and employees. It's literally stated in the rules at entrance and during the introduction of the tour, because there are too many issues with tourists doing that and posting it publicly (Google reviews and photos is proof of that ...) Also be quick with taking photos in areas where you're allowed, because the tour covers surprisingly a lot and you're usually at one place no more than 10-15 minutes at a time. The group was no more than 20 people, and everyone was courteous and polite. I enjoyed my time here, and would encourage anyone who enjoys beer-tasting and production tours to...
Read moreA really fun experience even though conducted in Japanese. Book your visit online. 2. Show up early (use the shuttle, easier to get there - the walk is pretty far from the closest station). 3. Go to the counter to register and download the translation app (you won't get the puns and jokes the guide shares with the app though). 4. Stuff your belongings in the free lockers provided (take a picture of your combination so you won't forget). 5. Enjoy the tour and drinks after.
By the end of the visit everyone was (obviously) in the highest spirits and were laughing and clapping at everything. We should have beer tours everywhere. The world would be a...
