It was my first omakase experience in Japan. I live in a small town in Alabama and usually have to go to Atlanta, GA or bigger cities like Nashville to get decent sushi. I brought my parents who live in Ookayama. We were so impressed! It is a small restaurant and rather quiet. If you're not from Japan, just know that you'll have to speak quietly and amongst yourselves. Chef will place the sushi on the counter and it's acceptable to use either chopsticks or your hands. If you use your hands, wipe it off with the small towel that's shaped perfectly for your fingers to pinch. You get your regular oshibori and nice napkin to put on your lap.

We did the 12 course lunch option and we made reservations online. It was perfectly timed and Chef's selections were perfect. The course included a handroll, miso soup, and tamago. The tamago was so soft and fluffy, it looked like castella (not that sweet though).

We loved it and highly recommend this restaurant! My parents were even talking about bringing my other siblings when they visit Tokyo next. Can't wait...

Great omakase spot in a great location. Two minutes away from Oksawa station and less than 10 from the heart of Jiyugaoka. Not surrounded by busy tourists and gives you the opportunity to show down in a nice environment.

It was my first omakase experience to this scale in Japan and it was worth every penny! The total was just over ¥20,000 with one extra order of aji for the 15 set lunch. The chef was very accommodating and understanding that it was my first experience, which made everything less intimidating. Especially since I asked for no wasabi, which he was understanding of as well.

The sushi itself was amazing! The fish was seasoned and prepared well, along with the rice. The pacing was perfect and allowed me to enjoy each piece. Did not want it to end. Would definitely recommend for those looking for a spot with a...

An exceptional omakase experience that truly stands out. The quality of the fish is unparalleled, and the relaxed, down-to-earth atmosphere makes it even more special. Every bite is worth every penny, and it’s an experience I can’t recommend highly enough.

We were first recommended this spot by a local, and it quickly became our favorite sushi destination during our trip. I first visited in 2023 and loved it so much that I returned in 2024—and I’m already looking forward to my next visit! If you’re seeking a memorable and high-quality omakase, this is absolutely the...

Sushi Hikari is the best Traditional Japanese Omakase style I have ever had before. It located in a quiet residential area; therefore, I was able to enjoy every single pieces of sushi. The chef selected the most delicious ingredients himself to prepare the dinner for us. The fishes were super fresh, especially Uni which was melted in my mouth right away. I highly recommend this place!
