We had one of the best dinner experiences we’ve ever had! We showed up late on a Tuesday night after literally just landing in Tokyo for the first time. When we walked in the chef immediately welcomed us and pulled out a translator device to talk with us. He asked us what we would like and helped us decide on a set menu to start, and added that we could always get more if we were still hungry. He also asked if we had any allergies. I don’t remember what menu he recommended but it was perfect. He made each piece of sushi by hand and served it one at a time. If you appreciate visual presentation then you will be very impressed here- every item came on a gorgeous plate or dish, with beautiful fresh garnishes that also gave interesting flavors and textures. The chef conversed with us while he prepared the food right in front of us - it was like a show- and explained what type of fish each item was made with and how to eat it (I asked because I was unsure at some points.) The fish was SO fresh and delicious. I tried some things I’ve never tried before like grilled eel and salmon roe. Other things I had tried before, like tuna, were hands down the best I’d ever had. My favorite piece was mackerel and I also enjoyed the hand roll he made. The atmosphere of the restaurant was beautiful - cozy, warm, and calm. The staff were very attentive- constantly clearing the little dishes and asking if we needed refills on drinks. Don’t hesitate - just...

Dinner at Sushi Ko Honten has been an incredible experience, not just in the quality and variety of dishes served but also in the restaurant’s warm and welcoming atmosphere.

The dishes were expertly made, we had a variety of sushi and grilled dishes including different cuts of tuna, seared fugu, uni and more.

The chef knows some english and explained the different components of the dish. In the case of more complicated language used, he would take out his handy translator which can translate to a lot of different languages so I’m confident that no matter would language you speak you’ll have a great experience dining here.

The chef is very knowledgeable and shared bits of historical information about the sushi served. I had a fun time learning about what ingredients went into each dish, where it is procured and its historical significance. The chef also has an extensive plate collection featuring different japanese characters, which he proudly displayed for us!

I can tell that this is a well loved neighbourhood sushi restaurant as the customers chatted with the chef, everyone was so welcoming we ended up exchanging photos from our various travels!

Overall we had an incredible time at Sushi Ko Honten. I could not recommend this place enough. I will definitely be visiting again next time...

Absolutely phenomenal experience at Sushi Ko Honten! From the moment I stepped in, the atmosphere was serene and inviting. The sushi chefs demonstrated incredible skill and precision, crafting each piece of sushi with care and expertise. The quality of the fish was exceptional, with each bite bursting with flavor. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff ensuring that every need was met. Overall, Sushi Ko Honten exceeded my expectations and left me eager to return for another unforgettable dining experience. A definite must-visit for sushi lovers! Furthermore, I was thoroughly impressed by the thoughtful gesture of providing me with an umbrella to ensure I stayed dry on my way back to the hotel amidst the rain. It's these little touches of hospitality that truly set Sushi Ko Honten apart and make it an establishment worthy of the...

This review is a little late, but this restaurant stood out so much during our Japan trip that I thought I make sure to show my support and appreciation for their business. The food itself was an experience from the tasty sushi to watching how the chefs prepared and presented the food. They also made sure they accommodated us with the allergies and anything we might not like. The waitress was extremely welcoming too. The chefs were very warm, friendly and polite. They even shared recommendations for our activities and famous attractions. Coming to the restaurant felt like an event. I highly recommend and will stop there again on my next Japan trips. To all the people who plan on coming here try the wasabi kiss very tasty with a kick.
