Stumbled across Amatista Coffee while wandering the busy streets of Uji, still looking for something to eat. Most coffee shops close early, and since it was already 6 PM, I was lucky they were still open — and I’m so glad I stopped by!
On my first visit, I tried their Sakura Strawberry — just wow. The barista (a lovely woman) even shared a bit about their shop and coffee, which made the experience more special.
I loved it so much that I came back the next day to try their Colombia Pink Bourbon — the aroma, the notes, everything was just impressive (I’m not a coffee connoisseur, but I love exploring different coffee profiles!).
On my third visit, I bought their Sakura Strawberry beans to take home — and today I brewed them back in my home country. The taste is exactly as I remembered — worth every yen, even if it’s a little pricey.

We ordered two espresso based drinks, which given that this place roasts its own coffee beans, we had high hopes for it.
Unfortunately the espresso based latte was bad. The bean to cup machine they use isn’t able to make a nice espresso. We were very disappointed given the price and high expectations we had.
