As other reviewers say, staffs on the store provide bad services. Staffs on the store treat tourists and visitors from outside the city as if they just are "virus". I found that the old man cooking had whispered to another staff that "You should put on rubber groves cuz he seems like a traveler", staring me! Yes, of course I know the importance of countermeasures against Corona today, but the behavior of the man was outside the reach of them. It's just a discrimination. I recommend the store for you who has interests on the situation of "村八分". You will have nice experiences at the store. On the other hands, if you just need nice seafood dishes, the store will be out of...

This is a cozy Japanese restaurant with a corner retailing frozen seafood. I ordered the Soya black beef steak which was soft and tasty, Grilled Hokke (mackerel) with freshly grinded daikon which was so sweet. I also tried a mini bowl of sea urchins,,sweet n fresh. My partner ordered the Urocoichi (mixed sashimi)don+Grilled scallop set..all was great and tasted so good. It may seem too much for 2 pax, but my philosophy is always to try the best that I can during a trip. I had to take 1 point out for atmosphere as the seating table and chairs should provide ample legroom for guests with long legs..I had to sit sideway...

found this diner on google maps while traveling wakkanai for the first time and this was an hidden gem. staffs are super welcoming and they are energetic too. i ordered the hokke teishoku which was 1500yen, dirt cheap for a whole fish like that. the condiments that comes with it are delicious, miso soup was savory and hot (really suits the cold weather at wakkanai), rice was steamy and has that japanese mochi texture which I really like. fish was a bit bland for my tastebuds so i dipped it in soysauce and wasabi, it was super flaky and good though. next time im here i’ll definetly be eating at this...

What a wonderful dining experience for my first meal in Wakkanai! I was greeted with a smile, ushered cordially to a seat overlooking the harbor. The service was prompt, friendly, and energetic! The one staff member, who I included multiple photos of, was particularly service oriented with unbounded enthusiasm. The prices were comparable. My meal was fresh and delicious! Amazing culinary start to my overnight visit!
