As the northernmost JR Station in Japan, Wakkanai JR Station serves as a gateway to the country’s northernmost city. More than just a transit point, the station offers a variety of amenities, including a cinema, a restaurant, a convenience store, and a play area for kids, making it a convenient and comfortable stop for travelers.

The Wakkanai Roadside Station is also located within the facility, though it doesn’t offer much beyond a stamp and a toilet—all essential services are inside the JR Station itself. Just outside the station, Pokémon fans will find the Wakkanai Pokémon manhole cover, a fun detail for collectors and travelers alike.

With its modern design and practical facilities, Wakkanai JR Station is more than just a train stop—it’s a welcoming hub for visitors exploring the far...

Northernmost station in the country. Never thought I'd get the privilege to even come here.

Coming to Wakkanai from Tokyo via Rail travel is an adventure in itself, and Wakkanai station is a vital stopping point. I think this doubles as both a main station and a tourist destination. The bus terminal is just next door, so if you'd like to go to Sōya Misaki, the northernmost point in Japan, that's where you'd...

The most northern station in Japan seems to be newly furnished with a modern look and even has a cinema within! Even though the trains is not as frequent, there are lots of nice sights to be able to see the end of the rail line and as well as a viewing platform on the second level of the building. There's a generous playroom on the second level too for kids. Best time to visit will be in the evening or morning where you can see a variety of train types (including...

日本最北端的稚內站,安靜平和的氛圍,即使只待在車站裡四處逛,也相當悠閒。車站還跟北海道的Seicomart便利商店聯通,相當方便
