Hiroshima Style Okonomiyaki Juju — Restaurant in Yokohama

Juju Okonomiyaki is the best okonomiyaki in my opinion! It is conveniently located across the street from the Keio University Shimoda dorm. As an exchange student there seven years ago, I had the pleasure of visiting there very often with my friends. My then boyfriend (now husband) and I always shared the Juju Special. We have returned to the shop again this year.

The owner is very friendly and funny. He is 85 years old and has a stellar memory! After eating there, you can get your picture taken and write comments. He keeps scrapbooks of his past customers. If you love Hiroshima style okononiyaki, you've gotta come here! Service is excellent and the ojisan loves taking photos of new customers - potential friends to him! An English menu is available and he does understand English if your enunciate and speak slowly. Get the special if you're hungry, otherwise a normal Buta Tama (pork with egg) will do for most. Whatever you do, make sure you try the Oyatsu crepe for a yummy gooey cheese mochi jam crepe as dessert!

The best restaurant ever and it is just in front of one of the Keio student dormitory. This is owned by an old man, 89 y.o. in 2021 but he act as a way younger person. He can speak a little bit of English so you can communicate a bit with him or just train your Japanese skills. The restaurant it's like his own house, it's actually one of the room. Once you enter the experience will start: you will be able to cook some part with him if you want and after having had your meal he will ask you if he can take a photo and put it in his book, you can write a caption and see the others books with all the people who have been there, amazing! The Okonomiyaki Hiroshima style it's the best I've ever eaten, there are several choices and you can also put noodles inside. It's a place to go!
