I don't usually give out many 5 star reviews but Aztecas deserves it. My wife and I (from the USA) are visiting our daughter who lives in Yokosuka and she said she hadn't found a good Mexican restaurant here in the past year she has been here. I found this place on Google with decent reviews. Let me tell you the food was better than the best Mexican we can find back in North Carolina!
We met the chef, a Mexican native working here temporarily. Please go before he returns to Mexico! You will be glad you did. If you like spicy Mexican like we do, just ask for it that way and he will serve you a spicy sauce he makes on the side which is very good! We ordered the different margaritas they make there and those were excellent as well.
The service was great as well. Our server was from Peru and speaks spanish (of course), English, and some Japanese.
To be honest, this was one of our highlights of our trip to Japan, which capped off a magnificent day trip to Hakone.

Additionally the staff are very kind and make every effort to ensure the meal meets your needs. Something a lot of Americans tend to forget is that everything in Japan that's imported is 2 ~ 3x more expensive than the States. If you want quality and authentic Mexican food in Japan, you have to pay more for it than you will back home. If you don't want to pay for that quality there are cheaper places out there but those establishment's flavor just does not compare to Aztecas.

Read moreThis Mexican restaurant in Japan nails the atmosphere and aesthetics, creating a vibrant and inviting space that feels warm and lively. From the decor to the music, they’ve put in the effort to capture the essence of Mexican culture, making it a fun place to dine. Unfortunately, the food doesn’t quite match the experience. While it’s not terrible, it lacks the bold, authentic flavors you’d expect from great Mexican cuisine. The dishes feel a bit toned down and don’t deliver the same depth of taste that makes Mexican food so special. If you’re looking for a fun, visually appealing spot to enjoy drinks and a lively setting, this place is worth checking out. But if you’re after true, flavorful Mexican food, you might leave a little...
