Really good service, very welcoming and accommodating. Chanced our luck not having a reservation, there were no tables but we were led to the small seating area near the bar and ordered drinks. Soon after ordered food from a really lovely selection. Were taken to table just before our food came out and really were impressed by the quality and presentation of the starters. For mains we both went for steaks and both came with chips and ample veg. Steaks were both cooked to perfection, medium rare sirloin and medium well rib-eye and whilst not normally a fan of peppercorn sauces they came with the stairs so thought I'd give it a go and it was worth it. Family run atmosphere, tightly run and run very well. At one point a diner on another table was celebrating a birthday and the woman running front of house subtly told us and the other diners they were going to bring out a cake and she wanted everyone to sing happy birthday (having also told us the guest's name so we'd get it right). Not my cup of tea and ordinarily I'd cringe but it was actually a beautiful moment and having lived in London for ten years where something like that would just not happen it was nice to be part of that moment. To summarise, a lovely, yet small location, with fantastic service, a real attention to detail, impeccable food, beautifully presented and delicious. We eat out a lot and have dined in a lot of very good places but this is the first time in a long time I have been blown away at how good the food and the experience was. We will...
Read moreWe visited Aromas in late July largely because it had been recommended to us by the taxi driver who thought it offered tasty dishes at a reasonable price. The bill for three adults and one child came to under £115 and that included a 10% tip. He was right! It was also very close to the Grand hotel which was handy. It gets busy so booking a table is advisable. A cheap menu is on offer for pre 7pm orders which may be a consideration.
The establishment is comfortable but a tad tight. We found it very hot inside but it was a very warm evening anyway. The service is extremely good. The staff were quick, efficient, cheerful and helpful. One lady suggested we might like the Lido and took time to explain how to get there. The menu is somewhat limited but what you get is very good. A vegetarian and a children’s’ menu are on offer. The establishment was particularly accommodating to the likes and dislikes of children. There is a choice of hot and cold starters as well as steamed mussels. Vegetable was the soup of the day and it was first rate. The food is attractively presented, tasty and you get generous portions. We would suggest the duck wrap, the sea food platter and the poached fillet of sole with spinach. A great evening for us and a...
Read moreWe enjoyed a fabulous meal at Aromas. It was serious, but unfussy cuisine, delivered with utmost care. The choice of dishes from the menu is excellent with something to appeal to everyone. For starters we opted for chicken with salsa, which was first class and a huge portion size for a starter. Our other choice was seafood crepe, again delicious and a large portion size. For mains we had the Mediterranean goats cheese and vegetable filo pastry and a portion of blackened chicken with lime salsa and rice. Both tasted superbly, although the chicken may have been slightly overdone. The vegetable accompaniment was fulsome but for my taste the cauliflower and broccoli was slightly overdone, but that is a personal preference and did not detract one bit from the meal. The wine list is extensive and all are priced extremely well. None will break the bank but are all ideal accompaniments to the meal. Frankly, it is impossible to dine so well at such an extraordinary price in St. Helier. Service was lovely and everyone was made to feel welcome. What a fantastic night! Thank you Debbie,...
