Banollo — Restaurant in Almaty

Banollo Bistro has a great atmosphere, delicious breakfast, and quality coffee. Service was generally good and we really enjoyed sitting there. I was with my daughter, and we stayed for about three hours, ordering drinks and finally some ice cream.

I had checked out of my hotel and had plenty of time before my late-night flight, so Banollo seemed like the perfect place to relax for a few hours.

But just as we were waiting for our ice cream — before it even arrived — a staff member came and said, “This table is reserved, we need to move you inside.” After three hours? That was quite a surprise.

At that point, I simply asked for the bill and we left. Apparently, if you sit too long, they start looking for a polite way to move you. We were almost done anyway — you could’ve at least served the ice cream and let us enjoy it in peace. It felt a bit like being gently kicked out — without dessert.

We ended up moving to a nearby place, and my daughter quietly finished her treat there. I can handle it — but I wish you hadn’t disappointed my little girl.

A lovely place overall, but that moment left a bitter taste — not from the coffee, but from the timing.

Four of us had a great dinner here last night. We were quite late but the staff happily sat us.

Nice menu of mainly Italian style dishes with a few fish, meat dishes also. Large selection of salads etc

All the food we ordered was perfect, tasty and nice sized portions, although the main course salads were a bit small for a meal.

They make their own breads and the one I tried for the bruschetta (eggplant), was so tasty. These are big servings and easily halved to share.

Large sitting area inside and outside and outside with a great vibe. Staff were really friendly.

All four of use enjoyed our meal.

Service was good, but I’ve ordered a brownie which I don’t suggest it to you guys. But the atmosphere is nice. Also no one speaks English and if you are an English speaker they’re hesitating to...
