I recently visited Art Cafe In village market, hoping for a pleasant dining experience. Unfortunately, my visit left me deeply disappointed. It's disheartening to say that I encountered what I can only describe as racial discrimination during my time there.
One glaring issue was the noticeable preference given to white customers over others, including myself, despite the order of arrival. It's essential to note that fair and equal treatment should be the norm in any establishment, regardless of a customer's background.
Furthermore, it's disappointing that such preferential treatment doesn't necessarily result in better tips or appreciation, as I observed during my visit. This raises questions about the ethics and professionalism of the management
In conclusion, I believe that every customer should be treated with respect and equality, regardless of their ethnicity or nationality. It's disheartening to see such behavior in an establishment operating in an African country. I urge others to consider these issues seriously and, if they share similar concerns, to think twice before supporting Art Cafe. Change is essential, and boycotting such establishments can send a powerful message about the values we uphold in our society.

Café Brasserie is Artcaffe's version at the Village Market Shopping Mall, off Limuru Road. From the vantage point of its balcony sitting area which overlooks the main entrance to the mall, one realises how busy the area is. People, walking and driving, stream, in and out every other second - even into the early hours of the night.
The outlet, which is open from 7 am to midnight (the kitchen closes at 11 pm), is modelled with a touch of French and exudes a welcoming atmosphere of warmth as you walk through the main door and into the Artbakery Shop filled with freshly baked artisanal breads and delicious pastries on sale. Admittedly, that experience can catch you off guard if your idea of a restaurant has nothing to do with bread but if you have been to other Artcaffes around town then you know pastries are their signature speciality and they showcase it conspicuously.
Once you are past the bakery and into the restaurant, everything is straightforward. There is ample sitting space inside and at the balcony. What is a bit tricky to spot (unless the very helpful staff guide you) are the washrooms which are oddly located behind the counters. Signage might help in the future.

I told the waiter and she apologized but didn’t do anything. At the end of the meal, after I was done paying and heading out, the waitress said the manager wanted to have a word with me. The manager, Dennis, told me that most of his customers like the chicken to be dry and chewy, and that if I wanted it to be less dry then I should’ve specified when I ordered it. He then offered me a complimentary slice of cake for takeaway to make things better.
I am a local and buy rotisserie chicken from Art Caffe markets all over Nairobi and never has the chicken been dry. The manager could’ve approached me when I made the complaint but he didn’t. He waited for me to be done eating and paid to have a word. Will not...
