Dear Darren Hele,
Not sure if you have had the time to eat at your new restaurant in the Village Market(Nairobi)? Maybe you have you pulled up one of the chairs under the M&B umbrella on the patio and ordered a meal? Have you tried the food? Did it met your standards?
Were you impressed with the slick photos on the menu and the fake story about two frenemies who started the legendary chain? When you saw the Sesame-crusted buttermilk chicken burger described as “sesame-crusted buttermilk chicken strips, rainbow slaw, grated parmesan, mixed lettuce & fresh tomato, drizzled with a garlic mayo & honey-lemon citrus reduction,” did your mouth begin to water in anticipation? Did the dazzling glow cause you to drool as you anticipated the epicurean-masterpiece coming your way?
Maybe, like us, you noticed the menu over-promised and under-delivered. It was a false prophet of what actually was placed in front of you. Was your gourmet burger delivered cold, too? Were the sweet-potatoe fries on the side of the meal looking two days old? Did they look like they had been sitting in a fridge and taste dry; even stale?
Did you alert your server, supervisor and manager about it, like we did? Did they bring it back the same way for a second time?
When you have a moment, Mr. Hele, can you explain why the Monte Cristo salad my wife ordered as an appetizer only came at the end of the meal(after we mentioned it)?
While the bottomless, Wildberry Fizz is a delicious drink, a meal it doesn't make. It quenched my thirst but we had come to eat.
We think you should investigate what is happening in the back of the kitchen. There is a piece of kitchen equipment called a deep fryer. It needs to be turned on with the red light glowing.
We won't blame our server Mr. Bjorn Kennedy. He did a fine job with professionalism and excellence. We can only point a finger at the manager who doesn't quite seem to get that a burger, like coffee, needs to be served hot.
Running a restaurant is hard. Running it from another country is even more challenging. Because we have other options, we probably won't be back. We hope things will improve and we will wait to see more positive reviews on the temperature of the coffee and the chicken burger.
P.S. The piece of carrot cake offered as an apologetic gesture had the same composition of Styrofoam and was moisture-less...

Read moreI thought instead of ordering from one of the usual restaurants such as Java I'm going to get myself a nice brunch. Unfortunately, the food does not live up to my expectations whatsoever. what you are calling Mac and cheese is definitely NOT a mac and cheese dish, It's basically pasta topped with some small amount of cheese. whoever made this food doesn't know how to make mac and cheese and I'm saying that as someone who is not American. mac and cheese must have the cheese layered inside, and it must have a lot of cheese for it to have a good taste. then also whoever made this dumped a lot of black pepper on top for reasons that are unclear to me. as for the potato bacon pod all of the ingredients were completely dry and I have no idea why that is. I think the only thing I really enjoyed was the chocolate muffin which wasn't a 10 out of 10 either but it was definitely enjoyable even though slightly expensive. speaking about pricing, if the food would have been well made it would be okay but unfortunately it is as many things completely overpriced given the dryness of the food and that you do not know how to make mac and cheese properly. unfortunately you lost a customer here because I would have ordered for you quite a lot since I was in the mood of trying out different places but now I will get my delivery from somewhere else. You have very nice packaging but that doesn't make up for the...
