The Smoked Sailfish Crudo was absolutely amazing – definitely worth being something on a Heston Blumenthal menu! It had smoked sailfish, avocado silk, jalapeno cucumber emulsion, tangerine cubes, frozen beet and lemon pop rocks – doesn’t that just sound insane? The avocado silk and jalapeno cucumber emulsion were to die for, the sailfish had a lovely almost bacon-ey flavour and the tangerine added a slight sweetness which worked perfectly (ever had maple glazed bacon?). The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was the frozen beet. Bleugh. Beetroot. The other starter, the Crazy Monkey was also really delish. It was a sushi roll of fresh salmon, cream cheese and mango rolled with nori and covered in a fried tempura batter, topped with a mango coulis. The mango was an unexpected hit! It really added that something special to the taste. Fine dining perfection!
The beef was cooked exactly how I’d asked for it – Medium, you’d cut into it and see the pink… PERFECT! There was some lobster on the top and once you got to the middle of the steak there was some lobster stuffed inside (I LOVE LOBSTER) and the Bearnaise sauce was so silky and creamy and added just the right amount of acidity to the dish. Read moreThe ambiance is great, it has a civilised club ish feel but I loved it. Something different for a change. It offers an okay view of basically Ngong road which is not so bad. Interior decor is perfect, choice of chairs and tables and sofas the arrangement, I liked. I was there for their burger festival and I hard the surf and turf which was basically made of prawns, calamari, cheddar cheese, a beef patty 160g and veggies and to be honest it was a huge disappointment for me. The prawn and calamari were okay but the beef patty was very tasteless, dry and boring. The bun was supposed to be made with coconut and ginger but to my surprise there was nothing to it. I loved the drinks they were refreshing and tasted so good I also loved the service the staff is great. It was burger festival so I hope when I try out their menu it will not be such a huge...
Read moreThe beer is pretty terrible. I've tried twice. First time the beer tasted soapy, all of them on the sampler. Quite sure this is from not cleaning the brewing equipment correctly. Working/managing at a startup brewery previously, we suffered the same issues but poured the beer out instead of serving it.
Second time around today and the beer had almost zero flavor. None of the styles they made were correct in their tasting. Needs quite a bit of work on it. Additionally, they were all flat. Not sure if they are force carbonating, assume so. Need to spend more time at the right temperature or get better equipment.
Might take some time to get to a "craft brewery" but they're starting so hopefully others...
