Enchante Bistro — Restaurant in Nairobi

We arrived at the restaurant at 7:00 p.m. to find it completely empty. We ordered two starters and two main courses, then asked for the wine list. The waitress handed it to us and disappeared for over 15 minutes. After 45 minutes of waiting, only one starter arrived (the bruschetta). We were then told that the chef had made a mistake preparing the polenta “from scratch” and was redoing it. At that point, we asked them to skip it and serve the main courses — but even that took a full hour. The steak, ordered medium, came out raw, while the Italian salad was missing several ingredients. I asked for the menu to double-check and pointed this out to the waitress, who looked completely lost and took the plate back to the kitchen. From my table I could see everything happening inside, including the supervisor showing up, speaking with the staff, but never coming to our table. When we finally called her over to take back the undercooked steak and request the bill, she arrived not with an explanation but asking “what happened,” despite clearly knowing what had gone wrong. She presented the bill immediately and, incredibly, offered a dessert as an apology — which we declined. Her attitude was unprofessional, dismissive, and downright rude. We had our Valentine’s dinner at Enchante Bistro. The atmosphere was lovel. It was fully booked. There was a big crowd and it seemed like the kitchen was struggling to keep up. Our mocktail took about 20 minutes to arrive, and with only one bartender serving around 100 guests, the delays were expected.

The dinner was a seven-course meal. Some dishes were bland, but we really liked the tiramisu, risotto, and Parmiggiana di melenzane. The soup was also very good, but it was supposed to come with sourdough bread, which had run out. We were only informed about this after asking the server. We expected to be served something else in place of the bread but we weren't.

On the positive side, they were very careful about our dietary restrictions and made sure everything, including the dessert, was egg-free. This was their first time hosting such an event, and overall, it was a good experience. However, given the price we paid, we hope for better food and faster...

Such an elegant restaurant that exceeded our expectations. Great ambiance and aesthetics. The service we received was top. Allan our server was everything..
