Been to the Mombasa branch, but first time in the greenhouse branch.
Location If you are along ngong road, then the location is great. If not, then the location is not ideal. Since I was in the area and didn't go out of my way to find it, a star for location.
Atmosphere A star for the ambience. Really nice space with ample space. I sat upstairs near a window overlooking ngong road. I like the simplicity of the space and the Japanese elements are well placed to suit the space.
Menu A star for the menu and food. It might look complicated, but it is quite direct with a good amount of choices. They do have a Korean menu tacked in there as well.
Cost It loses a star here as the prices are too high.
Experience I was there on a solo date and I had a good time. I went around 4:00pm on a Thursday. There weren't many people and the service was good.
I ordered a pot of Japanese Green Tea, the Misono Sashimi and Sushi set which came with a side salad and a miso soup, some Yasai Gyoza and I finished off with the Green Tea Ice Cream. I clearly over ordered.
If you get a set, that is more than enough for an individual.
The food was good,no complains.
What I ordered would be great for a couple to share making this place an ideal place for a date.
I spent KES3570. For an individual, this is on the higher side. For two, this is a deal and a good one at that.
If you are tired of the same menu in all the Nairobi eateries, this would be a nice change.
I left at around 6:00pm. I like that they space out how they bring out the food. If you are on a solo date carry a book, a kindle and make...
Read moreEstablished in 1995 in Nairobi and 2006 in Mombasa, the Misono Japanese Restaurant, located on the ground floor of the Green House along Ngong Road in Adams Arcade, Kilimani, has gained a reputation for its timeless classics, spanning from sushi to Tempura.
However, if you prefer dishes that have undergone cooking over open flames, fear not; you can still relish an authentic Japanese dining experience with their diverse cooked menu.
During the visit, indulging in a main course of Buta Teriyaki (grilled pork with Teriyaki sauce) accompanied by Yasai Yakimeshi (vegetable fried rice) and a steaming cup of Japanese green tea sounded like an excellent way to celebrate a special occasion.
To elevate your experience, don't forget to sample some delectable pork dumplings served with either tartar or soy sauce. With these delightful dishes, Japan will feel closer than ever to...
Read moreThe Dine-in experience was great. It was not crowded, and the seating orientation and setting were great. The staff and owners were welcoming and accommodating; for instance, some of the friends we were with were not familiar with chopsticks, so they brought the tied chopsticks that made us enjoy the experience as they learned. The food was excellent. We chose a platter for two, wine and Japanese tea, for which we paid Kes 7000 for every two people. A good budget and affordable. The mall is super accessible by public transportation, online taxis, or private cars. My only dislike is we had to leave the car outside since they don’t allow parking inside, and that can be a little distracting. The service is done purely by African/ Kenyans. Although we were anticipating Japanese servicemen, they still did a great job. Generally, it is a good Japanese place to add to your...
