Road House Grill - Dennis Pritt — Restaurant in Nairobi

The manager is a cheat!!! I travel to Kenya often from Canada, my Kenyan friends reccomend this place as a great local pub, and we frequented it often the previous year as I was in Kenya for 6 weeks. Tonight I came without them, but with my Kenyan girlfriend, and on my return to a place I enjoyed the previous year, I got cheated and lied to about the price of my drink. And it wasn't by a waiter, I got cheated and lied to by the manager who called himself Francis. We had ordered 1 plate of goat, 1 plate of chicken, 1 order of chips , 1 fried potatoes, 1 glass of wine, 2 bottles of schwepps tonic, 2 Smirnoff black ice, 1 large bottle of water and that came to 2500 Kenya Schilling or approximately 25 usd, and at the top of the bill was the 375ml of Jameson whiskey I had ordered. A half bottle or 13oz for 3000 Kenya Schilling. As soon as I saw this i knew i was being seriously overcharged for being white and a tourist because no local charges 30usd for a half bottle of Jameson. We wasted a hour talking to the manager Francis about this and he just told us more lies, like it's the price from the supplier. My Kenyan girlfriend and her friend were very angry. He acquiesced after an hour of discussion but only a little, and gave us what he called a 550 discount, which he said was discounted off the price of the food. How am I supposed to return to a place I enjoy being at and is my best friends local after being treated like this by the manager, i cannot beleive I was lied to so blatantly and...

The service is appalling, we were made to wait almost 2 hours for our food. The manager only put through our order 30 minutes later, didn’t bother apologising but was arrogant & insisted that it takes an hour to prepare & that we should wait another hour. However, people who came after us were receiving their food 20 minutes after they ordered. We only received our food after we demanded our money back. They treat foreign black people like s* and bow down to Chinese people who treat them like s* (I saw it with my own eyes).

Dear manager, you should be ashamed of yourself for treating fellow black people with disrespect & lack of consideration. You think the people whose rears you kiss at the expense of your people think you are important, guess what they treat you & the rest of us like scum.

The food is amazing. However the staff, I made a reservation for 15 a day before and I indicated that we’d all order once we arrive and they agreed and further took my reservation. The day of, they almost chase us away and won’t give us a place to sit. When I complain, they now tell me you don’t have a reservation cause they don’t allow reservations without commitment that is ordering food. Why didn’t they tell me when I was making the reservation ? Why did they agree to let us order when we arrive only to turn on us at the venue ?
