This is one of Nairobi's hidden restaurant gems. Its located in Karen on the other side of the road from Kenya School of Law. Fastest way by public transport is to take Naboka Sacco from BS. It's 80Ksh. Its inside a compound with a number of shops and you have to walk through the shops to get to it. So its hidden from view. Its such a wonderful chill spot though. It's an outdoors restaurant with very minimalist tables and chairs under a roof covering. There's a beautiful garden around the restaurant area and I loved taking some photos of the flowers. A great place to do a bit of a photo shoot or selfie shoot. They have very nice wait staff and the they have an interesting menu. Lots of interesting vegeterian options. I had a veggie burger and some sweet potato fries and very reasonably priced. Much cheaper than you think. I also had some mint tea in a whole pot and had about three cups of that at only 150Ksh. There were mostly Caucasian clients while I was there and maybe that's a reflection of the people who frequent the shops. The shops are also worth a look. Very interesting...
Read moreI can't believe me it took so long to find this hidden gem. Tin roof Cafe Langata is nestled in the heart of the boutique Langata Links gift and curio shops. The all outdoor design is tasteful, rustic and very telling of the menu and dining experience awaits you. What I like most about their menu is the individual twist they have added to create unique plates of food. My halloumi wrap for instance had the usual tortilla replaced with a much tastier local favourite "chapati". My son who is not a big eater loved the pasta commodore so much he had 3 servings even though he struggled with the last one. I have to mention that the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Special thanks...
Read moreI like tin roof because they have delicious, simple, healthy and unique food unlike anywhere else. This Langata location looks inviting, cosy, and serene - but it's anything but peaceful. I don't know if it's because I came at a low peak hour (4 pm), but the employees were extremely noisy and unprofessional. Maybe the proximity of the cafe and the shops is to blame or maybe it's too many idle hands, but the employees yell to each other in conversation from one store to the next to those behind the cafe's counter. They treat this establishment like it's their hang out joint rather than place of work. It made my experience quite unpleasant and I wished the manager was there to maintain some order. I will have to try the new location for a hopefully...
