I had the fish burger, well I received it but couldn’t eat it. I cut it in half and it all fell apart, it smelt odd but I still gave it a go. The fish tasted very muddy and the rest was tasteless. The fries were frozen chips and very greasy. This place is priced in the region of a 4-5* hotel but falls very short. The view at night is nothing special, maybe the daytime view is better, I may pop back for a glass of wine at sunset and will post a review to reflect that experience.. definitely not going to eat though. The waitress that took my plate looked at the remaining full plate of food then looked at me, I said it wasn’t good and tried to explain my thoughts. Im not sure she understood which is fair enough as I don’t speak Laos. Overall I was very disappointed 😔

Best place for sunset and the food/beverage offer is very reasonable both quality and price wise coupled with good service. So much so that I dined solo two nights in a row. 5.00pm to 6.00pm is ‘happy hour’ with 20% off drinks (a 40,000 Kip big beerlao comes down to 32,000kip - very reasonable) and the sunset over the Mekong plus an almost 270 degree view from the rooftop is suburb. The service is attentive and the staff speak good English. The menu covers Western, Thai and Laos cuisines. I chose Laos food on both occasions and wasn’t disappointed. My second night dining I missed happy hour and sunset so make sure you arrive at 5.00pm

The rooftop restaurant at Pakse Hotel offers some of the best views in town — a beautiful spot atop a charming old hotel with lots of character. I ordered a burger to take a break from two weeks of Lao food. It wasn’t the best I’ve had, but it hit the spot and satisfied the craving (just note there’s a lot of bun!). Service, however, was disappointing. The staff seemed disengaged, and I had to leave my table to find the server — who was on her phone — just to get the bill. While the view alone makes it worth a quick visit, the overall experience fell short, and I wouldn’t return if given the choice.

Went during happy hour, the beer was more expensive than you get elsewhere even with the discount. I paid in cash. About 20 minutes after getting my drink a staff member came to me and said I owe 1000kip because there is a 3% service charge - not sure what this is actually for as I paid cash and I had to go up to the bar to be served as all the staff were eating when I arrived and did not come to serve me like they did with other people I saw coming into the bar. I feel like it was very petty to ask for this extra money. Be careful if you're a big group getting food and drink even paying in cash as you will get charged the 3%. In my case, it was obviously a very small amount that I had to pay but it's more the principle when the service wasn't even good so what am...
