My wife and I were visiting the area on Saturday and quickly found out that this square is the place to be to enjoy the area. There are a few places to choose from, but the outdoor eating area is nicely shaded for this restaurant and was very busy - always a good sign. First piece of advice if you want to sit outside - if you see an empty table, simply sit at it. If you head inside thinking they will seat you - too late. The table will be gone and they will tell you to do the same. Please pay attention to the unofficial line of people doing the same - it is busy. The waitresses do a great job of cleaning off the tables and getting menus to new patrons. Our waitress was very nice, but we definitely didn't enjoy fending for ourselves to get seated. You can certainly eat inside to avoid this. As for the food, it was great and well timed. Everything came out without being rushed. We really enjoyed our starters, but I will say you have to try the potato salad. It sounds simple enough, but it was a very delicious "deconstructed" salad. Our mains were also great. We had the pork medallions and the pork neck carbonade - very tasty, and both had a great gravy. The roasted potatoes and grilled vegetables were delicious sides as well. One other note: the burgers looked great, but they were not cooked well done. If you don't mind some pink, no worries. Otherwise, be sure to ask for them cooked they way you want. When you are in this lovely town, absolutely stop by if you are in this square (you will be...
Read moreOwen cooked beetroot salad was served with cold beetroot. I expected the beetroot to be warm as the owen baked potatoes were warm in the other dish. I asked the waitresses but none of two waitresses actually knew how this dish should be served. The first yong lady said she will ask the kitchen and never got back to us, she actually rolled her eyes on us when I wanted to check the menu again ! . The other waitresses didn't know it either but said she think this dish should have been with warm beetroot. The fact that none of the girls apologised or found out how the dish should be served and just looked at us with with big eyes with no explanation and knowledge of the menu was shocking. Generally food was ok but it didn't feel like money well spent. Slightly disappointed and would not return...
Read moreIt was our visit to Kuldīga after a many years interval. It was an Old City festival and the town was full of people. All central restaurants were overbooked but we were lucky to get a table for two ( and our dog) on the terrace. Despite a great load, our young waitress was extremely friendly, brought water to our dog a few times. We were also served quickly and the food was simple, fresh and tasty! We ordered pork neck carbonate with veggies. My advice (and my principle): always order traditional local dishes and you will never be disappointed! Coffee and dessert of the day were very good, too. The prices are more than reasonable . The place is highly...
