Parka Paviljons — Restaurant in Liepaja

Drinks & food were very mid. We ordered rhubarb lemonade – we expected a homemade drink, but it turned out to be from a bottle. Of course, it was our fault for not asking beforehand. The kombucha with pineapple and coconut was also canned. Very mediocre. The wine, however, was good.

Kids’ cutlets came with no vegetables – just mashed potatoes and three small cutlets. We wanted to try the ostrich carpaccio, but it wasn’t available that day. Instead, we ordered prawn skewers. The side salad would have been better left off the plate – wilted and lifeless. The prawns themselves seemed to be of good quality, but the preparation was terrible – overcooked, burnt, and without any seasoning. Honestly, they would taste much better at home cooked simply with butter and a pinch of salt.

The beef soup – we expected something hearty and meaty, but it was watery. Not the worst, but disappointing. The beef cheeks were probably the best dish we tried, but the seasoning was odd. Hard to tell exactly what it was, but it had a strong flavor similar to anise, which didn’t work well.

The place itself is amazing, but the food… perhaps it would be better described as a fancy cocktail bar rather than...

First of all, we have tried to get a meal and drinks here twice and for both times none of the waiters got interested. We had to ask ourselves if someone will take our order but all we have heard was that the kitchen is closed. It was before 8 PM. After all we did not get anything since we weren’t serviced in any way. Second of all, the menu is only in Latvian, so it’s hard for foreigners to understand anything what is written. We asked waiter if they could translate names of drinks for us, but as I said before, none came to our table. I’m highly disappointed since the pavilion looks marvellous. However the costumer service is not doing that well nor the kitchen functions properly since they do not take orders at the time of supper, even desserts. Шикарная архитектура и внутрення отделка,у данного места СТОЛЬКО потенциала,но он как-то медленно его пытается реализовать..очень странно,что нет никакого декора на столах..его там сильно не хватает (свечку какую-то, или букетик и т.п,у них выставлены фото данного кафе из начала 20 века и на них видно, как красиво были украшены столы,неужели нельзя этим вдохновиться?) .Меню крайне печальное для такого места (и относительно дорогое за маленькие порции, но еда вкусная, мы брали брускету и было очень вкусно,правда салат с креветками и авокадо был так себе), интерьер места просто просит чтобы там подавали afternoon tea (в Лиепае кстати нет ни у кого такого и это могло бы стать фишкой заведения!!!) ну или хотя бы сделали более обширный ассортимент десертов..в общем,выбор скудный,хоть и вкусно. Самый большой минус заведения -МЕДЛЕННЫЙ СЕРВИС. Официанты все очень милые и приветливые люди, но работают крайне медленно..в полупустом кафе в воскресенье вечером надо было минут 5 ждать меню ( ждали пока они наговорятся в баре) и минут 15 ждать какао .. (тоже такое красивое место,почему бы не подавать настоящий горячий шоколад вместе со взбитыми сливками как во многих кафе во Франции/Италии- это могло бы тоже стать вашей фишкой,в городе никто такого не делает…вместо этого подают несквик с молоком в стеклянных стаканах). И опять таки,прекрасный интерьер,но посуда не вписывается, жаль что не выдержана общая стилистика.. если расширить меню, добавить в интерьер маленькие детали,и ускорить официантов -место будет топ! А пока...
