Oak'A Burgers — Restaurant in Riga

It's okay, I think it is very overrated, and comes across mostly pretentious.

First a burger to be a smash burgers you really would have to have thin patties with crispy edges. In burger itself could pretty much only taste the bun, which generally brioche could make good burgers but usually just makes inconvinient to eat and is just full of air. Typical sesame seed bun for example has better not overwhelming flavours. Buns inside were a bit burned and gave bitter taste added to the meal.

Fries were okay, but at this point it is sort of snobbish not to offer ketchup with them. I know the sauces are a big focus here and I will get to them, but none if them really fit fries, burger sauce came closest.

The sauces, the communal use sauces were mostly dissapointment. Garlic sauce for example had no garlic taste, there was like tiny hint, like the sauce was kept next to garlics and the flavour rubbed in. Also the big sauce bottles made it inconvenient to take sauce, like at least give sauce dish or something so you could put sauce out and dip burger. Just pouring sauce on the tray felt kind of nasty, and pouring it directly to burger would mean to clean hands mid bites so you don't make the bottles dirty so that they are nice for others. And with sauces constantly taken out of fridge, they were room temperature and from this maybe a bit stale tasting.

Giving gloves was nice for eating purposes, and the service generally was nice. Waitresses cleaned tables fast and returned sauces to the communal fridge so there was generally sauces all the time. Place was busy and but still.kept clean and plenty of seating inside...

Without a doubt, one of the best burgers in the city 🙂👍. Our small group stopped by here for supper on the weekend after attending a nearby event. We didn't have a reservation (not sure if you can actually), and we were lucky to find seating, as it is a very busy place. There is seating both inside and outside to accommodate different sized groups or a single diner. You can certainly order to go if you want as well. The menu is a large display as soon as you walk in, and you have to go to the counter to order. After your order is placed, you are given a number and you head to your table. Once your order is ready, they deliver it to you. These burgers are big, and can definitely get a bit messy. This is part of the "adventure" hahahaha. Dig in - delicious. They do offer knife and fork to everyone, and I even saw someone with rubber gloves on (?). No matter how you eat it, you are going to love it. A few other things really set this place apart from other burger places. There are great napkin holders at every table to clean up along the way. Hand wash station to clean up before and/or after. The prices are great (fries for 2 extra euro). The biggest surprise was that all the sauces were free to bring to your table. You go to the small fridge and take full-sized sauces. Take a couple if you like - no charge. In places that charge a Euro for a small ketchup, this was very refreshing to see. It really adds to the meal. They also sell spices and sauces if you want to take them home. Overall, a definite must try in the city. Thanks....

Ok this place is averaging 4.8 stars and I can see why.

Ok so it’s self seating so if you go at a busy time you could be SOL. However if you find a seat claim it and then go to the counter to place your order.

The cashier asks if you want to tip which I think is a little bold for a place that doesn’t take your order at your table. And you pay before receiving the food so what is the tip based on? Anyways please don’t follow the ways of the west on this, remove the tipping option.

Once I ordered my food came quick. I got the loaded cheese fries with jalapeños and the small smash burger.

Ok the fries were good, the taste and variety of topping was amazing. They could have been great if the temperature was a little hotter. They were like warm. But they were still amazing.

The burger is the star of the show. This burger now is in my top 3 ever. Top 3 burgers I have are in Latvia, Sweden and Canada.

The burger was perfectly cooked, had an amazing selection of “vegetables” on it and the sauces and seasonings made it perfect. I could barely finish all this food so I feel sorry for the folks that get the bigger meat burgers.
