Okay. I see this place has no reviews written yet probably due to the fact it seems very new. And I never have really written any review myself yet but this will be my first time because I felt I really had to. I'm a vegetarian and it's unusual for me to be terribly disappointed after eating at any place outside my home since I'm usually pleased that I'm able to eat something whatever it is and I don't have a difficult taste. But my experience with this place was horrible. I came with my family for a quick small lunch there because it was close to our hotel and we had our luggages with us to go to the airport after that. I really wanted to try a Banh Mi since it's supposed to be their specialty but they told us there was no bread left at that time but it would come later ! So my parents both chose a salad with chicken and a fresh spring roll. And I had no other option than to eat fried veggie spring rolls with nature noodles as a supplement. On the picture, we could see many raw soy on top of the chicken salad, but in reality the salad contained no soy. Instead they replaced it with lots of red onions !!! It seems like there was no tofu available at that time either. My fried spring rolls didn't taste good at all - and remember I'm not difficult - and were too fried, way too oily. I have never eaten any spring rolls that were so wet in oil in my entire life ! Moreover one of the side was more oily than the other. At the end of our meal, we saw a couple next to us that got sandwiches. The bread looked industrial compared to what the real Vietnamese fast foods use in Paris. Also it seems like hygiene in this restaurant is not important. My mom noticed that they left the fresh spring rolls on top of the fridge instead of inside it. There were flies inside the main room and when I went down the stairs (which had pieces of food on the steps), there were more of them. That is not a good sign. They like to show you on some TV screens how pure and traditionnal their ingredients are but I'm pretty sure they are lying. Their food didn't even taste Vietnamese. Anyway, I do not recommend this place at all. I would even suggest you...
Read moreI’m pretty spoiled growing up with delicious and amazing variety of Asian food in the San Jose/San Francisco Bay Area in the USA. I haven’t found a Vietnamese eatery that’s comparable to to the one back home, especially those that are abroad. If you are dining in, don’t expect a table service. I came to Tavs Banh Mi for a bowl of pho to warm me up on a cold September afternoon. You order as you enter the establishment and the food will be prepared and brought to your table. Though it’s a a Vietnamese restaurant, we notice our food was prepared by a very friendly and talented non-Vietnamese (Indian) staff. A little of a disappointment on the pho because there was no basil leaf, bean sprout, or condiments that are usually comes with the pho. The broth is ok, a little salty to my taste but it’s not a “San Jose pho”. My first time trying the fried lychee which was pretty good. The lemongrass chicken and rice is ok to satisfy the nostalgic feeling of a hearty and tasty Vietnamese food back home when...
Read moreIf you aren't a fan of fatty, large meals - this is your place. This cafe offers light, medium sized, simple dishes that usually include rice or noodles. For me this place is perfect as I prefer having a light lunch that doesn't fill me up for the whole day. Prices are also reasonable, between 4 - 5 euros for one item from the menu. The only disappointing part is that each time I ate at this cafe, they were out of numerous dishes. Would be nice if they also had some sort of a sticker on the menu for those items that are sold out since I always happen to pick something that's...
