I was going to leave a good review but, after getting yelled at this morning by an employee I no longer feel that is appropriate, combined with the 40 minutes I waited last night to have my order taken. As a vegetarian who doesn't eat meat at a buffet, 14.50 euros is quite a lot to pay for eggs, bread, beans, and cereal. For two mornings I made a small sandwich with 2 slices of bread, 2 slices of cheese, 2 slices of tomatoes, and a boiled egg in addition to my beans, cheese and croissant. unable to eat any of the meats, I felt this was appropriate and decided to take it with me for later rather than waste it, as both mornings I have felt nauseous and could barely eat the small plate of food... It all was barely one plate of food. I was yelled at by the employee for taking this small sandwich to-go from the buffet two mornings in a row. I did not get repeat food, just one plate, and certainly did not eat 14 euros of food. I would steer clear of this place.
Last night I had to wait so long and ask to even get a menu, when everyone around me was being served at the tables. As the nearest cafe to the trail they should expect people coming directly from the trail. It then took 40 minutes for them to notice me and take my order. People seemed to know the staff and they were friendlier to those they knew.
The food is ok but there are no meat substitutes or vegan options. The food comes out quickly. The buffet is not a value for the money and the staff is rude.
They told me "I don't if you eat 2kg cheese while you're here but you can't take a sandwich with you if you don't finish it". I asked what would the difference be if I took a bite of the sandwich and didn't want...

However, when it comes to service, letâs just say you might want to bring a book, or perhaps a tent and some camping supplies. The service at Bistro Martbuschu operates at a speed best described as "leisurely." The waitstaff seems to follow a different concept of timeâone where minutes stretch into eternities, and ordering a meal becomes a lesson in patience and endurance.
The servers aren't rude, per se, but they certainly arenât going out of their way to make you feel welcome either. Theyâve mastered the art of the slow-motion shuffle, a technique that involves moving at a pace somewhere between a snail and a glacier. Itâs like theyâve taken a vow to never break a sweatâor a smile, for that matter.
If youâre the type who appreciates some downtime, Bistro Martbuschu might just be the perfect place for you to catch up on your meditation practice while waiting for your food. But if youâre in a hurry, you might want to reconsiderâor at least clear your schedule for the rest of the day.
In conclusion, Bistro Martbuschu offers delicious hamburgers, but be prepared for a service experience that might have you questioning the very fabric of time. Enjoy the food, but pack...
Read moreThe service is very bad. We have eaten and drank here on numerous occasions over the last few weeks. And every single time it has been slow and inattentive.
It takes much too long for any server to greet us with menus. We constantly need to flag them down to order or to be able to pay. They are nice staff and I have nothing against them as people. But it seems like their training or methods of waiting on tables are inefficient.
It is such a shame as the food is delicious and it has very nice scenery and vibe. But the slow and incompetent staff are really bringing the place down.
Even one day when I went there to pick up an order it took a long time for the girl at the front to notice me. And she wasn't even doing anything. She was just simply restocking the refrigerator. I had to call out to her as there was starting to be a line behind me. This just reflects the inattentiveness of the staff.
So now whenever I visit Berdorf, I cannot bear to eat or drink there as it is too painful to wait literally hours to receive food and drink. And this is not just one isolated incidence, but has happened, every single time I have dined there.
Do not...
