I have found another gem. Words simply couldn't describe the taste of the food and excellent service that this wonderful restaurant offered. If I could give more than 5 stars, this restaurant definitely deserves a 6! My review for this restaurant is going to be lengthy just because its food and service experience was outstanding.
At a glance, this restaurant doesn't seem much. Perched next to 2 busy highways at a shoplot, it just doesn't justify what I experienced inside.
I have been to 2 restaurants that are prominent with lobsters, but this 3rd restaurant is so far the best. Far exceeding one of them.
It's rare to find a restaurant that serves ltop line steaks and obster and does not have alcoholic drinks. All Malay staff manning the outlet and already has 3 outlets in the klang valley. This particular outlet was opened in 2020 and survived the pandemic by serving deliveries.
I started off with the mushroom soup. It was by far one of the best mushroom soups I have had. The first thing I noticed was that it wasn't runny like most restaurants would have. The mushrooms were finely blended, and there wasn't an overwhelming taste of the mushroom. The mushroom taste was quite subtle but well balanced. It was creamy and still exciting. You need to order extra garlic bread because it enhanced the taste of the soup. The bread was smothered to the brim with butter and perfectly toasted to give you that 'crunch' every time you bite into it. Dip it in the soup the soup doesn't drip. The only other place I knew that has soup like this is in Singapore.
Next was the surf n turf and 1/2 lobster with aglio olio spaghetti.
Surf and turf basically are 1/2; lobster and a steak. The price differs by the type of steak from normal grass fed to wagyu. I took the normal grass fed. You can choose the sauce that comes with the steak and lobster.
The serving wooden tray was filled with goodness. 1/2 lobster thermidor, a strip loin steak, thick cut French fries, salad, and sauces. The steak was dripping in its own juices, and the lobster was perfectly done. I took the Kay's signature sauce for the steak, and it was just perfect. It's hard to describe the taste. It's like mushroom black pepper, but milder. It doesn't drown the taste of the beef.
Them the 1/2 lobster with spaghetti aglio olio. This, too, was a truly amazing dish. First of all, the spaghetti was good on its own, let alone paired with the lobster. Both the l1/2 lobsters were tender and super juicy and had so much meat. Dipping the succulent, juicy lobster meat with the butter garlic gives an explosion of taste with every bite.
For dessert, I opted for biscoff Cheesecake, and it was also another outstanding dish. The cheese was super creamy, and the texture was ice cream like. The biscoff base wasn't overly sweet, thus letting the taste of the cheesecake shine.
The service was superb. The staff was super attentive and courteous, making the whole dining experience a bliss. You would know that this restaurant is good when at 3 pm, people are still eating steaks and lobsters and the outdoor parking is full.
I would like to suggest 2 things for the restaurant to make the whole dining experience better. Firstly, have a paper or plastic bib. Eating lobster can be messy, especially when you need to go caveman and tear the lobster apart by hand. Secondly, have some wet wipes or wet towels to wipe off all the juices and flying pieces of lobster.
Another remarkable restaurant that I am already dying to go again. Just couldn't get enough of...
Read morefood is average not so wow, customer service fail big time. we made a reservation for 4 people, and when we came in, no one was there to help us. we had to walk all the way to the cashier to ask about our reservation to which they then gave us an unready table. no reserve signs, no cutleries, not a single thing was ready. it was as if it was a spare table they plan to give for walk in customer. which was a contrast to other tables which had a reserve sign and table ready. once the food started to arrive, we tried to ask for a bigger table or if we can add/combine with another small table because 2 of our dishes were taking all of our table space and we have another 2 main dish incoming. we asked the staff so many times but the staff keep on saying "kejap eh" and disappear with no updates. after the third call only the guy said they can't add tables. so we had to squeeze in all our food into the small table and was unconfomfortable throughout the meal. we saw other people who had smaller pax but bigger table which was unfair.
we also ordered the lobster but they didn't give us any lobster cracker and gloves. only after asking a few times did they give, by that point we were already half way through our meal and have been trying to crack the lobster claw with our bare hands.
the staff was unresponsive or not around throught out the start and middle of our meal. we had to keep on trying to get their attention multiple times when we want to add on food or have any requests. however, towards the end of our meal, suddenly they were always around and actively trying to clear our table. i was still trying to finish my pasta and paused for a bit when one of the staff suddenly tried to pick up my plate. they picked up almost everything to a point that my sister only had a knife to finish off her salad and fries because they took the rest of our cutleries. as my sister was trying to finish that off, they took up the whole board with her unfinished sides, then leaving her with only her fries (yes, that's right, they took her unfinished salad as she was eating them). so unprofessional, disappear or barely there towards the beginning when we actually need help, but was suddenly available and actively came to our table to clear us off when we we're just trying eat our meal in peace.
i rarely write negative reviews, however the service was just unacceptable and unprofessional, especially having spent...
Read moreIt was our first time dining at Kay’s Steak & Lobster, and honestly — what a wonderful surprise! We brought our 8-month-old baby with us, and from the moment we stepped in, the staff treated us like family. Everyone was so warm, helpful, and even attentive to our baby, which made the whole experience feel extra special. Special thanks to Miss Nurul & Team for the exceptional hospitality!
The ambience was cozy, the place spotless, and it’s clear that the restaurant is thoughtfully designed for families — from the clean toilet and prayer room, to the kid-friendly layout that made us feel right at home. We felt so comfortable and relaxed throughout our meal — something that’s not always easy when dining out with a baby!
We also witnessed a small incident at the next table where a child accidentally spilled a drink. The staff responded immediately and professionally — quickly cleaning up the mess, assisting the family with smiles, and even moving them to a new table with a fresh setup. It was a beautiful moment to see how calmly and kindly the team handled it — a true reflection of their excellent service.
Now let’s talk about the food — absolutely divine:
The Bold Ribs – Tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. The meat falls right off the bone, and the bold sauce complements it beautifully without overpowering the flavor. A must-try for meat lovers!
Caesar Salad – Fresh, crisp romaine lettuce with a creamy, well-balanced dressing and generous toppings. A classic starter done just right.
Beef Wellington – In one word: perfect. The pastry was flaky, buttery, and crisp, with the beef cooked to a juicy medium. Every bite was well-balanced and satisfying — a dish that truly stands out.
Strawberry Cheesecake – Light, creamy, and not too sweet. The strawberry topping added a refreshing, fruity finish — the perfect end to a hearty meal.
Kay’s Steak & Lobster Ampang truly made us feel at home. We left with happy hearts, satisfied cravings, and a sleeping baby. Definitely coming back again. Thank you for the...
