A Disappointing Birthday Celebration

My recent dining experience for my mother's birthday was unfortunately marred by a significant issue.

We ordered several of the restaurant's most expensive dishes, and to our dismay, we discovered hair in one of them. This was, of course, incredibly disappointing, but what followed was even more concerning.

The way the staff and kitchen team handled the situation lacked professionalism. The captain of the restaurant simply took the dish away, and after a short wait (approximately 10-15 minutes), returned with an apology, stating that the kitchen had "checked it out" and would prepare a new dish.

While I appreciated the apology, I was left with serious doubts. For a first-time customer, it would have been far more reassuring if the kitchen team had shown us the original dish with the hair, demonstrating that it had indeed been discarded, before presenting the "new" one.

The short turnaround time made me suspicious that the dish might have simply been reheated or had the hair removed, rather than being freshly prepared.

This experience significantly impacted our celebration. While I understand that these things can happen, the lack of transparency and the way the situation was managed left me feeling dissatisfied and questioning the restaurant's hygiene standards.

Initially, We came for the Peking Duck, served in the traditional manner with pancakes, spring onions, and a tantalizing sweet-savory dipping sauce. The portion of duck meat was generous, boasting crispy, caramelized skin while its meat is still tender and succulent. The accompanying pancakes exceeded expectations with their soft texture and delightful flavor. While the Peking Duck initially drew us in, It was the Braised OXTAIL, Braised Dong Po Pork Belly was much more authentic and we ended focusing our attention exclusively on them. My friends and I took our families to 12 Dining during the Chinese New Year, totaling 13 people, and we had an amazing time there.

The whole experience began even before our arrival - since it was CNY, I booked a month in advance. Roughly two weeks before our reservation, they contacted me on WhatsApp to pre-order our selections (a practice that's very common, especially for big occasions like CNY). Needless to say, they were incredibly friendly, helping me choose dishes based on the number of people and recommending various dishes for us to try.

In the end, everyone had an amazing time. The food elevated traditional Chinese cuisine while preserving its authentic taste. The environment maintained the essence of a Chinese dining room but with a very stylish design touch, and the service was exceptionally good.
