Horizons Sky Bar & Cigar Lounge — Restaurant in Borneo

Worst experience ever. I very rarely leave a review, let alone a negative one, but this experience was the worst I have had anywhere in the world.

We had a package which included a dinner at Horizons Sky Bar. When we arrived to start with, the two staff involved in showing us to our seat had a dispute: one lady wanting to seat us in a not reserved table with lovely views and the other wanted us stuck down the back as if second class citizens because we had a dinner package.

Once seated, eventually we were shown a menu for our “set meal” which read like you get in a substandard old people’s home. It was delivered with a sour face and slapped on the table in front of us. Drinks were not included in the package (which we were aware of - they had not been part of any of the other meals in our packages) and we advised we knew that and would like to pay to order drinks. We were reminded drinks were not included. Again we said we understood and made very clear we were more than happy to pay to order drinks (it was after all a bar!). After a third discussion where we made it clear we would pay, a male member of staff came over to see us and said we needed to pay up front if we wanted drinks (unlike the other guests, who appeared to be able to order normally).

By that point, other guests were watching us be treated like second class criminals and we felt so embarrassed and humiliated we left without ordering our drinks or having the meal. When we left, we advised why we were going and received little in response by the apathetic staff.

I have travelled right around the world, through over 40 countries, this place has the worst staff and service I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. I do not recommend you go here.

We ended up going to Alfresco’s at the Magellan hotel next door, where the staff, food, music, views and atmosphere...

We went there for their stunning sunset view but too bad because of raining, we were forced to move indoors. But this is not the part that disappointing us. We ordered one “Tiramisu Cake”, their presentation is okay, but it tastes like the worst tiramisu cake in my entire life, or we shouldnt call it a “Tiramisu”. (The taste totally doesnt fit the bill🙄). Second, we never expect a five stars hotel could provide such bad service. The waitors just closed and bang the door super loudly, and ignore the feelings of all the customers sitting inside. We initially thought we went to mamak? Haha. Other than that, their music was way toooooooooo loud, me and my friend need to literally shout to each other just to chat. Moreover, their lights on the ceiling dont work well which are blinking all the time, and this is really frustrated us. Overall, I think this is a place which is only worth...

24/3/24 in my 57 years in life have I ever been humiliated and treated as badly as my partner and I where tonight, we had a food and beverage voucher as part of our package at the Magellan club sutera harbour , and horizons treated us like criminals and third class citizens, miss debbie was the rudest human I have come across in Borneo, from not wanting to give us a table, to basically thinking we where not going to pay for any drinks consumed, this behaviour happened in front of other guests and we felt so humiliated we grabbed our voucher, this is our third trip to sutera and we will never darken horizons door ever…… I do not recommend at all unless you want to be humiliated in front of other guests, thanks to Magellan staff and alfresco who sorted horizons mess out and treated us like...
