Tucked away in a quiet corner of Tanjong Bungah is a cozy little café run by a humble couple from Beijing. A friend had recommended it to us, saying the coffee was excellent, though the food options were a bit limited. We weren’t too fussy — sometimes all you really need is a good cup of coffee and a peaceful spot to catch up with friends.
That weekend, Penang was facing water disruptions, but we didn’t let that stop us. We made the drive all the way from Barat Daya to Tanjong Bungah, just for our usual coffee rendezvous. It felt a little like an adventure, chasing good coffee across the island.
The café has a warm, homely feel. There's even a complimentary whiskey coffee offered — a pleasant surprise. The owners are passionate about what they do; they'll happily tell you about the beans they use, how they brew their coffee, and the little stories behind it all.
It's not a place for elaborate meals, but if you’re looking for a quiet hideout with heartfelt coffee, this place might just become one of...
Read moreFinally dropped in for coffee one morning as I live 2 streets away. Cosy space, tastefully decorated, and outstanding service, with owner opening the door and coming out to welcome me. They roast their own beans, and of course make brews with these. Utilising high quality beans and skilfully roasting, the cup of latte (or was it a cappuccino, I can't recall now) was easily one of the best I've had! They also shared a shot of their cold brew (I think it was Honduras beans with sherry whiskey barrel fermentation process) - the aromas and flavour of berries was very prominent, very little tannins, making for a fruity refreshing sip. Had a lovely chat with the owner as well, and they are lovely people very passionate about their craft.
Will be back for more coffee when finances permit, and also try their...
Read moreTo be honest, I’m not a coffee fan—but Capybara Café completely changed my view on coffee! The owners are incredibly passionate about what they do, and it truly reflects in their specialty coffee.
I highly recommend their Specialty Coffee Bean Dual Experience—it’s something truly unique and unlike anything I’ve ever tried before! I also had the honor of tasting their wine flavor profile coffee, and wow—the wine-like aftertaste is simply amazing.
Another highlight for me was their Osmanthus Latte. As a huge floral tea fan, this was right up my alley—fragrant, smooth, and absolutely delightful.
With its warm and cozy ambience, Capybara Café is the perfect place to catch up with friends while enjoying a one-of-a-kind coffee experience you won’t find anywhere else. Highly...
