Feringgi Bar at Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa - Penang — Restaurant in George Town

No I did not visit the Bar but ate at the grilll. Its a good place for meats and I get special treatment there as my friend is a recognised VIP at the grill. The fresh tomato soup is a speciality of theirs. Its also a good place to revisit as the menu changes when there is a change of Executive chef. So don't expect the same treatment of your steak on subsequent visits. The Rasa Sayang has changed so much when I first visited decades ago. At that time Batu Feringgi was very undeveloped. The change is for the better of course or else Mr Robert Kuok will be most upset, hahaha. Years ago I use to visit with my family. It was then I observed a Caucasian sitting in the garden but with a phone line. It turned out he was a liquor trader. There was also a Japanese restaurant but that is gone I think. I was told that some Caucasians visit the hotel year after year and on each visit ask to stay in the same room. For me that is not needed but on trips I don't like to stay more than four nights in the same room. I must relate that I once met Mr Kuok in the lift of the Island Shangri-la in HK. When the lift reach the Lobby and as a Junior I offered him to leave first. He declined saying in his hotel I am the client and he should leave after me. What a man.
