21 June 2024 Friday A cafè that cannot make up its mind what cuisine they’re serving : American, Italian or fusion. Had dinner tonight at AnMour Cafè Sutera, which unfortunately, the clientele included infants screaming their heads off and making the entire dining experience a nightmare. And we had it in stereo effect from two toddlers from separate families. Dining was quite stressful with having sudden screams piercing the air. Some children are just NOT ready for dining in public.
Not the restaurant’s fault of course.
However the food was not up to par. Soup course was served at the same time as mains, which made for a rather crowded table. Soup is supposed to be served first while the mains are prepared. Not all at once, but I suppose this is the Asian way.
We ordered the Manhattan clam chowder - a HUGE disappointment as it is NOTHING like the clam chowder you’d get in America. It tasted like watered-down tomato soup, which one of their young female server claimed was made with pumpkin (Manhattan Chowder is tomato-based). There were no chopped potatoes or onion or celery to thicken the soup, and definitely no clam juice to flavour the soup. AND There were only 2 clams in my Manhattan clam chowder.
To add insult to injury, the mains I ordered (Golden Beef Fillet with Mushroom Gravy) was made with minced beef, but it had a rancid oil taste to it - chow yau yik in Cantonese - which meant it wasn’t fresh, but had been sitting around in the freezer for a little too long. I left half the fillet behind as it was starting to give me indigestion.
The saving grace of the meal was that the mashed potato was creamy and made from real potatoes, and not the powdery instant kind. The sautéed mix vegetables was also from fresh greens, and not from a pack of frozen vegetables.
My husband’s meal (Chilli Crab Seafood Baked Rice) was also a disappointment. There was little to no crab in the dish, but at least it had squid rings, breaded prawn and fish … unfortunately it did NOT taste like chilli crab sauce, and the cheese overwhelmed the entire dish.
We ordered chocolate milkshakes, and thankfully, those did not disappoint. They were chocolatey-thick, and made with ice cream.
The service staff were actually pretty good and obliging, although the young girl who joined our conversation with the cashier has NO idea how food served in AnMour is made, and should perhaps keep her mouth shut. Saying that the Manhattan Clam Chowder was made from PUMPKIN simply shows her lack of knowledge, and how inexperienced she is. DON’T join in a conversation if you don’t know how the dishes are made, young girl.
This is the first and last time we will patronise AnMour. Service staff were generally good but alas, the food needs a vast improvement, especially in terms of freshness.

Read moreI recently visited AnMour Cafe Sutera with my family of seven, and unfortunately, our experience was disappointing due to the way seating was handled.
When we arrived, we were told the wait time for an indoor table would be 15–20 minutes, which we were happy to accept. After a few minutes, we were informed that a table would be ready in 5 minutes once it was cleaned. However, as we waited, several smaller groups arrived, and the waitress suggested that we sit outdoors instead. Initially, we agreed, thinking it would be a quick solution.
To our surprise, the smaller groups who arrived later were seated indoors before us, even though we were there first. When we asked about this, the waitress explained that there were no indoor tables available for a group of our size unless we were willing to wait an additional 30 minutes or sit separately. This explanation was frustrating and felt unfair, especially since we were initially told the wait would be short.
While we understand that seating a large group can be challenging during busy times, the lack of clear communication and prioritization left us feeling disappointed. It’s unfortunate that the restaurant seemed to prioritize smaller groups over those who had arrived earlier.
I hope the management can improve their seating and communication processes to ensure all customers feel valued and...

Having dinner frequently in this restaurant and recent visit was a disappointment being "fooled" by the waitress.
I have ordered my meal and the dessert and was told to remind them again when I almost finished my meal, the dessert will take 15 minutes to prepare.
When we almost finished of meal, I have reconfirmed the waitress to start the dessert preparation BUT after waiting for 20 minutes for our desserts and nothing was served.
I asked the waitress about my ordered dessert , she went to the kitchens area and check the order chips and talk to kitchen staff and back to my table and said that " the dessert failed" and if I still want the dessert I have to wait for another 15 minutes.
The reason given is unacceptable, if the dessert failed during the preparation process.. they should have feedback to customer within 15 minutes (time to prepare the desert is only 15 minutes) after my reminder and informing customer after reminder from customer.
No doubt the food in this restaurant is good and affordable price but they need to improve on the meal...
