Annual Dinner Venue Review: Grampy Goat & Friends

Our recent annual dinner at Grampy Goat & Friends was an overall positive experience with some room for improvement. Below are our thoughts:

Highlights:

Ambiance and Environment: The venue provided a welcoming and pleasant atmosphere, perfect for an evening of celebration. The lighting and setup added a nice touch to the overall experience.

Supportive Staff: The staff, especially Nick, were incredibly helpful with technical arrangements and seating coordination. Their support ensured a smooth and well-organized event.

Food Presentation and Taste: The food was well-presented and delicious, adding to the success of the evening.

Concerns:

Premature Clearing of Buffet: While the event was scheduled until 10 PM, the kitchen staff began clearing the buffet area at 9:30 PM. This was contrary to our understanding that the buffet would remain until the end of the event. This timing inconvenience affected some guests who were still enjoying their meals.

Food Waste and Takeaway Policy: As the event was buffet-style and we ordered based on the confirmed number of participants, some absentees resulted in leftover food. Unfortunately, we were informed that the leftover food could not be taken away despite being paid for. While this may be the venue’s standard practice, it led to unnecessary waste, which we found disappointing. We suggest re-evaluating this policy to allow clients the option to take away leftover food to minimize waste.

Recommendations:

Adjusting Buffet Timings: Ensure that the buffet remains available until the agreed-upon event end time.

Flexible Takeaway Policy: Consider allowing paid leftover food to be taken away, especially for private events, to align with clients’ expectations and minimize food waste.

This review is an honest review from my dining experience on 1st of May 2024.

Food: Chicken macaroni carbonara tasted bland. The gravy is watery. If you're a western food lover, you should have known how the carbonara supposed to taste like and trust me, its nothing near there. beef ribs we ordered came with a few chunks of meat. And it doesn't come with the bone (ribs) part. It tasted like asian kind of dishes with soy sauce and oyster sauce. The mashed potato that came with it tasted totally unpleasant. I believed they mixed with a lot of flour until it becomes sticky and no potato taste at all. the triffle dessert, we were expecting more but it is just non crisp waffles with cheap chocolate sauce and some cream. The waffle smells eggy. Please note that this reach us first when they didn't ask whether or not we want to get our dessert serve now or later

Drinks: signature coffee, i forgot the name but it is just coffee mixed with chocolate powder or you can name it as mocha pina colada is toooooo sweet and portion is small. 3/4 cup covered with ice and the coconut milk overpower the taste of the pineapple juice. For the price, it is not worth it hot latte, this came the last after we have done eating. No latte art, which is fine but hello there's not even a layer of milk foam? I am my own barista and this is totally unacceptable. It is watery like over extract coffee and just pour the heat up milk from microwave.

Ambience: yes you are basically here for the cafe concept but it feels nothing when the food is tasteless. the place is kinda hot as well so it doesn't really gives the comfort vibe.

Remarks: You guys may give it a try, but from my experience, I totally regret coming here. With the amount of money that was paid, we could have gotten something better from another coffee shop....

Just had dinner at this place with my family for the first time but it will be my last time

The moment you step in, the environment and place is very cosy and nice but don’t let it fool you

The western food is the ONE OF THE WORST FOOD I have ever tasted, if not the worst. It is totally not worth the value. Don’t come here or you will regret it if you have some expectations on the food

The FISH N CHIP portion is so small that after I ate it only 40%-50% full, you call it a main meal? The chips is not crispy and soggy, even my air fryer at home makes it tastier. The fish portion is very less and soggy, looks like a kids meal. The whole meal cost around RM37? I don’t think it’s even worth RM17 to be honest

The carrot cake is also sweet and not up to standard. It is not moist enough

The pizza is also a joke. The pizza crust cannot even hold the pizza properly and all the ingredients starts falling off if you try to eat it

The waffle is cold and not freshly made. It is not crunchy and felt like its made for a very long time and reheat it

BESIDES THE FOOD, now we are going to the service. The service is also a joke. Had to call the waiter alot of times just for simple SOP things? You serve plates to customer without giving them fork and spoon and u expect them to eat with their hands? Forgot to serve hot water drinks? No refill of cold water? Wanting to clean customer plate but customer still has food on the plate?
