Hailam Toast 1935 @Kluang — Restaurant in Johor

Terrible service! We came for breakfast. I understand the shop is transitioning to self-service app to order food. However, certain orders do not have the option to customise so I tried calling the waiters to assist. The shop was not very busy and there were 3-4 waiters about. When we called for help, it was loud enough until the boy making the toast looked at us yet they continued to ignore us, pretending not to hear. I have always kept this place as last option for breakfast due to its customer service but looks like it’s best not to visit anymore. When they came to attend to us, it was so disappointing to face the cold and impatient attitude of the waiters. I couldn’t take it anymore and cancelled my order. The service ruined my appetite totally.

Reply: thank you for your prompt investigation and response. I appreciate that but unable to reply to hence here. I hope that you take more notice on the customer service. I do not usually leave reviews unless it was really good or it was unbearably bad. It started off well with the Manager but your staff was hostile while attending after having to call them few times. The service and ambiance was great. It was cosy and I feel welcomed. 5 stars for this, kudos to your frontline staffs. I love it.

However, I was a bit dissapointed with the food, and I believe it can be improved.

Butter kaya toast - It tastes dry and bland. Kaya texture was a bit gelatinous and the butter was like just come out of the fridge. So, the kaya and butter does not infused , maybe because the bread was toasted slightly kot, it was not hot enough to melt the butter a bit.

Laksa sarawak - I'm not Sarawakian, so, i'm not sure if there are different versions of Sarawak laksa. In other place of peninsular I normally found the laksa is cooked with coconut milk, but yours are not and it tasted weird.

Kopi is good, not too sweet. I can vouch for this.

Price wise, i think it's ok, but need to improve on the food...

Last time datang, food was perfect. Service pun ok, not too bad. I came all the way from KL to Jb, singgah Kluang just to makan at Hailam Toast been craving for the food. Unfortunately ur staff here so bad. I ordered signature Hainan Chicken chop, lol sangat masin. Complaint with one of your staff, her respond was “masin?” then thats it without any apology. Lol the girl buat croissant also tak senyum langsung, aiyaa not a good surrounding tbh. Time bergurau dengan kawan2 sekerja boleh pula senyum gelak2. Dengan customer, hampeh.
