Our foodie adventure in Muar kicked off with an unforgettable early lunch at Kedai Makan Leng Kee, thanks to our new friend, Chef Ah Sam from Melaka’s Easy Chiak Kopitiam, who graciously drove my wife and me here. This cozy spot radiates the charm of a traditional Chinese village family restaurant—think rustic decor, warm lighting, and a homely vibe that instantly makes you feel welcome.

We dove into a feast: 🐟 Jenak Fish Dual Delight: A must-try! The Hong Kong-style steamed fish was silky and light, while the Assam Pedas version packed a tangy, spicy punch. Perfectly balanced. 🍷 Ginger Wine Fried Pork Kidney: Bold and aromatic—the ginger wine cut through the richness of the kidney, creating a unique, savory dish that surprised us in the best way. 🥬 Fried Green Veggies: Simple yet fresh, a crisp side that complemented the bold mains.

The star of the meal? The fragrant yam rice—earthy, subtly sweet, and the ideal base for soaking up all the flavors. Every dish was freshly prepared, artfully plated, and tasted above average, showcasing the kitchen’s skill.

have been eating at this place for the past 5 years whenever i am in Muar. Most recently trip was last week. Ordered 1 plate of steamed veg, 1 Bak Kut Teh (for 3), 1 Pig Trotter in vingear, 1 Asam Fish head and 3 glasses of home made barley. rm90. The quality is somehow not as good anymore.
