Mersing Seafood Restaurant — Restaurant in Johor

Was recommended by my brother to try this place – he said it’s a must eat every time he goes diving in Tioman… and now I totally understand why! 😌😌

Every dish we had was honestly amazing. Even the simple vegetable dish blew us away – the wok hei and crunchiness were spot on! We didn’t expect to be so impressed by something so basic. The salted egg squid is a definite must-try – it’s their special recipe and truly delicious. The other dishes didn’t disappoint either. Everything was soooo naise 😍 Perfect comfort food to end our short trip!

A little tip: do make a reservation via call or WhatsApp to avoid long waits – they’re often full house (for good reason!). Some seafood items sell out quickly too, so best to reserve in advance to avoid disappointment.

Went on a weekday evening. Hence, there was no crowd. There were only 5 (of which 3 were tables of 2s) other groups ahead of our family of 4.

The food was reasonably priced (RM66 for 4 dishes for 2 adults and 2 kids). Quite flavorful, and service was fast too. However, the deep fried squid stuffed with salted egg was not to our liking though. As it was only salted egg yolks that were used. The internal was a bit too hard. Our salted egg sotong so small compare to influencer table salted egg sotong size, double the size. Worst it, it not fresh tasteless sotong, what we feel is like eating mooncake instead of seafood.

Guess the popularity all is bought back with money. The day we dine in, there got one group of influencer doing shooting. Guess what? All dishes finished eat by the influencer group except the signature salted egg sotong..!!!
