I don't normally frequent dessert restaurants because I don't have a sweet tooth and secondly, I need to watch what I eat as I get older. I made an exception for Xi Tian for a celebratory reason so bear in mind that I don't have many other places to compare to when writing this review.
The menu here is a mixture of both modern desserts that appeal to the younger crowd like bingsu as well as more traditional desserts like tong sui. I thought this was a nice touch and it certainly appealed to my party of 9 which ranged from 18 to 80 plus.
Since we just had a rather heavy lunch before heading over, my family of four decided to share a bingsu and a chocolate waffle. The mango bingsu we ordered was huge. Inside the fluffy shaved ice was what I think is bits of cereal. I thought that it gave a nice texture to the shaved ice but the wife didn't like it.
We all enjoyed the waffle though. It was crunchy and the creamy chocolate was not too sweet.
The others in the party enjoyed their selections too. The older folks had tong sui that was also not too sweet.
The restaurant currently has a very high rating on Google. While I have rated the place 5 stars purely on merit, I have to mention that they currently have a promo that offers a free dessert in exchange for a 5 star review. My review was not influenced by this offer and I did not take...
Read moreA charming dessert shop that offers a delightful array of treats. The shop is known for its unique shaved ice desserts, alongside traditional and modern Chinese sweets, all crafted with meticulous attention to detail.
The atmosphere inside the shop is cozy and welcoming, making it an ideal spot to relax and enjoy a sweet escape. The decor is simple yet tasteful, creating a warm environment that complements the delicious offerings. The staff were friendly and eager to explain the menu, which was helpful for deciding among the tempting options.
The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the shaved ice desserts. They were not only visually stunning but also incredibly refreshing and flavorful. The shaved ice was delicate and airy, topped with an array of sweet syrups and other unique toppings. The combination of textures and flavors was exquisite, making each bite a delightful experience. Favourites included the lychee shaved ice, as well as the chocolate -flavoured.
In addition to the shaved ice, the shop also offers traditional Chinese desserts like tau fu fah, waffles and red bean porridge, all of which were delicious. The variety ensures there's something for everyone, whether you're a fan of classic tastes or looking for...
Read moreThe food is delicious and the portions are big, but the service needs to be improved. Last time, when I was ordering at the counter, no staff noticed me, so I said "hello". A staff in black, who I don't know if she was the store manager or the boss, said "okay" and continued to drawing cups. She didn't seem to have any intention of coming over. The other staff in blue was cutting something and didn't notice me, which I understand, but the staff in black saw me and said "okay" but didn't have any intention of coming over? She continued to drawing cups. In the end, another staff helped me order. I'm very curious about what she was drawing that was so important that she didn't even take the order. Today I come to buy yogurt i saw the staff inside (the black clothes are included) were chatting when they was preparing my yogurt and didn't wear a mask at all. The black clothes didn't even wear a hat.I'm worried about whether there is saliva or hair in my yogurt.I was very happy when I found this place, and the desserts were indeed delicious, but the attitude of the staff made me hesitate to come back...
