This has got to be one of the best Indian restaurant in town and hence, deserves a well-written and lengthy review.
Firstly, the place itself oozes a really homey and cozy ambience. Next, not only does the food always look really appetizing, it is also damn delicious. Not much of a variety, just the typical spread of a few vegetables as well as proteins such as chicken, mutton and fish, available in both fried and curry form, but the taste more than makes up for it. The food never fails to make you feel close to home, similar to a true “mom’s” cooking, thus truly living up to its name.
But the real star and standout here is the appam. I know it already has much recognition but its so good that it deserves all the recognition in the world. I am an avid fan of appam and have tried many different onces across Klang Valley and let me tell you, this place serves one of if not the best appam, or more specifically brown sugar appam as thats my go to flavour for appam, in the world. Crispy around the edges while maintaining a soft and gooey texture in the middle, coupled with just the right kind of brown sugar, I am lost for words to decribe the feeling, you just have to personally try it to get it. ;)
The lady boss, or mom, is really friendly, despite her stern look. She always strikes up a friendly conversation whenever I’m there and even goes out of her way to be as accommodating as possible, thus adding on to the homey factor. Will always make it a point to drop by whenever I’m in Klang for whatever reason.
TL;DR, homy and cosy environment, friendly lady boss, delicious food and BEST APPAM I’VE EVER EATEN! Highly recommended would still be an...
Read moreI took a vegetarian meal when I came here, the vege dishes were fresh and tasty. You can definitely tell the dishes were made from scratch. The cooking here is based on Sri Lankan cuisine. The curries were well balanced and the curries are not sweet and spices were well integrated. I also ordered a warm cup of ginger drink, it was a perfect one. The mashed spinach as one of my dishes was on point. I really enjoyed it to be paired with my rice anytime. I guess they don't recycle the old food back into new ones. This is my second visit actually, first time was a year ago. We came in a group and tried their appam and puttu. They also have good appams and puttu. Their egg appam was really good especially if you pair it with chicken curry, it was an amazing combination to try. For dessert, we tried their brown sugar appam. It was good as well especially after what we ate. My friend tried their Bru Coffee and we were told that the coffee is one of the best. The lady who is running the place seems to be very friendly to the customers. We also realize that there are no preservatives were used in the cooking. Pricing wise I would say it is not too expensive or cheap. Recommended if you're...
Read moreDisappointed I’ve been to this restaurant a few times before, and every time, the lady boss has been extremely rude — not just unfriendly, but downright disrespectful. Because of that, I personally stopped going.
However, my mother still goes occasionally because she likes the food. But this recent experience really crossed the line. My mother had just walked in and was simply looking at the food — she hadn’t touched anything or even decided if she wanted to eat. Yet the lady boss immediately scolded her in a very rude tone, telling her to wash her hands and stay away. It was uncalled for and humiliating. ( My mom is a teacher and and senior women, she definitely know how to carry herself and definitely we don’t hand to take food)
What’s worse, the lady boss herself was coughing near the food without any concern for hygiene. My mother didn’t even go near the food, but the one actually being unhygienic was the lady boss itself.
No matter how good the food is, the lack of basic respect and manners from the lady boss makes it a very unpleasant place to be. Definitely not a welcoming or professional...
