Melawis Fried Kuey Teow — Restaurant in Klang Municipal Council

Note - not halal, its a family business so some delay in service is expected. Parking may be an issue since this is a shoplot in residential area, just need to park further and walk over. No AC so you may feel really hot on some days, and when you walk out of there, very likely smell like char kueh teow 😅

This is THE famous Melawis char kueh teow, and i have eaten this guy's famous dish since i was a kid. The taste is really something i have not found anywhere else, when he closed during past few months i was really craving!👅 Soooooo glad to hear he is open now 😋 The "wok hei" is amazing💕 and price isnt crazily steep. Probably one of the best fried koay teow around!

This gentleman has been frying koay teow for decades now. The shop has a very humble facade but dont be deceived, this uncle has got a steady stream of loyal customers that keeps him busy. Just observe when you are here and you will notice his breaks are short as he needs to fry the next plate of noodles (okay teow or mee)

The plate of koay teow on offer is simple, generally, noodles, egg, cockles, chives, bean sprouts and pork. No prawns served with the noodles. Customize you plate to your desire.

I don't think that Klang char kuey teow is better than Penang char kuey teow - they are both good, just different versions of the same dish. It all boils down to preference.

Based on taste alone, I would give it 5 stars but unfortunately, the ingredients were lacking, and the cockles were very small. The fried pork lard bits were salty and crispy, although I prefer to have them in Hokkien mee rather than char kuey teow. Again, it's just preference.

I have to admire uncle for continuing to cook up so many tasty dishes daily even at his age. Nothing beats hard work...
