5 stars for the poached chicken to preface this review. Champagne pork. Nope. Totally not feeling it. It's just not good. I'll stick with the traditional sweet and sour pork. This one just tasted sweet but weird. For the first time in my life I couldn't describe what it was that made it tasted weird. The New Paris Restaurant in PJ is much better at making this dish. Go learn from them.
Stir fried baby pak choy Taste just like how you would expect it to be for a simple vege dish. Any restaurants will give you that same taste. So it is a safe choice and a good way to form a balance to all the meat dishes that my brother had ordered.
Steamed catfish Now this I have a problem with. The fish was undercooked. It was difficult to cut through it with a spoon and you knew it was undercooked. All the dishes came really fast but this one took some time and yet it was undercooked. Unforgivable.
Creamy butter mantis prawn Strangely I like this dish as I usually don't go for Chinese style creamy buttery dishes. This is for the fact that it gets really oily and yucky. But not this one. This was just right and the deep fried mantis prawns were not swimming in a pool of buttery yuckiness.
Tom Yam (I asked for non spicy) This was fine. It came in a hotpot with charcoal inside. Pretty nice display I would say. Haven't had Tom yam served in this way for some time so I was pleased. And it was sourish like Tom Yam albeit not quite tasted like Thai Tom Yam. But I'll take it. The seafood was fresh.
Poached chicken Best dish of the night. Came in a pool of sauce that did not drown out the taste of the village chicken but complemented the chicken really well. Love it. I had more pieces than my mother did. And I...
Read moreVery, very delicious food. Our second time here. Our traditional salmon yee sang was very tasty and so was the emperor fish, around RM420 for 1.5kg. Very meaty fish but a bit much for 5 pax. We also ordered champagne ribs, and salt and pepper squid, which tasted okay but nothing extraordinary. We had some butter prawns, which were huge. Could probably share 1 prawn for 2 people if you have lots of other dishes to try. If you go for lunch, it's a bit hot as the place is open air but from what I heard, you can just walk in but need to make a booking for dinner (not sure if it's just during CNY period).
Our other go-to meal here that is NOT on the menu is vegetable curry. Very thick and delish here.
We also tried "tong kat kai (standing chicken). It wasn't bad and had crispy skin, but nothing so spectacular to make me want to reorder it.
Edit: Don't overeat where you forget to order your coconut ice cream here! This is by far THE BEST coconutty ice cream with coconut shavings and wafer biscuits I have ever tried at many Thai cafes. It is a MUST-HAVE.
I tried the coconut shake, too, which was average (a bit filling if again you have lots of dishes but refreshing...

Order kongpo frog, salted egg sotong & signature toufu
Frog very fresh & tastefully, but for those lack of experience in ordering seafood type food, so better direct consult ordering ppl and make desicion how many u need to order & order exactly weight, cause I hav order 3 frog and forgot to mention weight, resulting the very large portion
Salted egg sotong - salted egg too little, cooking is ok
Signature toufu very nice, the toufu having a very perfect hardness & taste with the sauce added
Menu price a bit outdated & ordering dint mention about that although is just increase a bit
Toddy is very nice, they just selling in 1.5liter bottle but for Guinness stout they just selling the 1 liter bottle, but the toddy taste is good enough, I think not nessasary hav to add stout also...
