Visited this as I saw on social media and my friend wanted to try as well. Wanted to make reservation but was told had to spend more than 350RM. We decided not to as we thought we might spend less than that but turned out we spent 500RM. Should have gotten the reservation where you get to sit in an air conditioned room. So had to walk in and queue. I arrived super early at 4pm because I saw it was going to rain and I arrived and it rained and one of the staff saw me. Even though it was raining heavily at 5, people started arriving and queued and when it was 530pm, the restaurant opened and the people simply cut my queue. Luckily the same guy saw me and let me in. Waited a while for my friends to arrived and was told the 1st round of dining is only till 715pm. Ordered quite a lot of stuff. Initially didn't order the prawns thought there was alcohol and we had kids but we eventually ordered it. The alcohol would have already dissipated after the heat and indeed almost no alcohol taste when we ate the prawns. Ordered quite a lot of dishes. The most expensive being the steam tiger prawns but turned out not looking steamed, kinda dry the technique was like cooking by heat. 88RM for 9-10 prawns was pretty worth it if you ask me, and the prawns were big and fresh. Some of the items we ordered were not bad, the iberico pork char siew, mountain tofu, sweet and sour pork and the baby cabbage. Ordered the iberico pork with claypot rice and pork lard, the iberico pork standard was different from the standalone iberico pork, and the pork lard seemed to steal the show and become the highlight instead. The juicy roast chicken came but we weren't informed and no chance to take photo it was simply cut and then served to the table. Supposed to be juicy but didn't taste as juicy as I expected. The huge you tiao came too soon. Should request it to come at the end as a dessert. It was cut too early we sampled it it was crispy then but was already soft after we finished the main dishes. Should have came around the same time with the huge ball. This place depends a lot on the theatrics of the dishes and hence you also get some interaction with the staff. They are pretty friendly and helpful with requests as well. Decent place to try, guess the theatrics is gaining a lot of hype for people to visit. The meal was super reasonable and value for money. It was pretty enjoyable. Come early to beat the queue or plan the dishes you want to order in advance if it hits above 350RM then I recommend you make a reservation to...
Read moreIt was a last minute dinner plan but knowing that parking and the crowd were going to be an issue, we went early at 6pm but it was already crowded and we still had to wait for 35 minutes for a table. Looking at how busy they were, our expectations had also increased by a lot.
We ordered 7 dishes:
signature roast chicken (1 of the 3 must-order). Flavour was good, meat was juicy and tender. But was it really soooo good that I will reorder? maybe not. It was decent for me.
Trio platter 煎酿3拼. The one with lotus root was our favourite because it gave the crunch to it. The chili one also good and unlike the typical chilli Yong tau Fu, this one you can really feel the heat. The meat itself is also very good. Will repeat order.
Fried noodles with soy sauce. We thought this was the best of the 7 we ordered. Wok hei is there, flavour, seasoning & texture also on point!
Spinach soup with 3 eggs. It was acceptable for me but my husband thought it was not good. Mainly because it was on the bland side. We had had better one. But if you have a lighter flavour profile, you may like this.
stir fried Kai lan. Nothing to complain about. As long as they didn’t serve old vegetables.
black sesame tong sui. I am picky with my black sesame tong sui and this is one of the few that I don’t mind having again. It was thick enough, but not starchy thick, smooth, and most importantly the sesame was not over roasted.
The signature Jin Tui (煎堆) or the moon dessert. Presentation 100%. Definitely instagram-able. If you like mochi, then you will like this. It is not very sweet, and I thought it was quite fun to roll it. The server will demo one time how to do it. It also come with ground peanut for you to coat, but if you ask me, I prefer our local mochi better and my friend prefers 红糖糍粑. Having said that, I will still order this if I am going back there just because I like the texture of mochi and the thin and looks-crispy skin is actually not crispy at all, it has a chewy bite to it which i enjoyed eating.
Overall it was a good dinner still, and service was great! Will definitely go back again to try the other 2 must-order dishes, just...
Read moreThis Cantonese restaurant has been around since 2016 serving anuthentic Cantonese cuisine with local touch. I have the opportunity to come here to try their food few weeks ago. The restaurant is located at the busy part of old klang road. The restaurant does not take booking unless you are willing to spend above a certain amount then you can book an air conditioner room. Otherwise, the diners have to settle in the open area which may get too hot on a warm day. We were lucky to get a room as there were 8 of us. The restaurant is nicely decorated with many latterns and rustic look reminded me of olden days shows’ tea cafe. We ordered few of their signature dishes like the roasted Chicken, Iberico BBQ pork and drunken prawn. On top of that, we also ordered foshan pan fried combination, Kai Lan with ginger, Beef in sour soup and stuffed Loofah. The food was served pretty fast despite the restaurant was super busy that night. The waiter dished out the chicken from the rack for us. Same for the prawn as well. Out of all the dishes, I loved the stuffed loofah and the foshan pan fried combination. Th prawn was super fresh with its firm texture. I found the iberico pork was tasty but the meat was a bit tough. The chicken was juicy but a bit too salty to my liking. I am not sure was it the chef’s mistake for the night or it was meant to be this salty. We wanted to try the claypot rice but it was sold out. For desserts, we ordered the white sugar Kuih and the sticky rice ball. The sticky rice ball was huge, good to feed 10 persons. The waitress cut it into small stripe and rolled it up with some peanuts. I liked the texture of the sticky ball, it was chewy like mochi and not too sweet. The white sugar Kuih was a bit like the ‘fatt Go’ we ate during festivals. Overall, the food were pretty good. The menu is pretty extensive, I would come back to try other stuffs definitely. The service is good too, one of the diners want to have a cup of coffee after dinner and the waitress went all out to get one for him. We were impressed with...
